Re: Preparing is THE BOMB!!

Oh, please consider sharing these thoughts on the homeschool reviews site! :D Julie started a thread recently about sharing our HOD year over there on that site, so others can see how wonderfully it can work in their home. I went over there to see what's been written lately. The first review I read ...

Re: It's that time of year! Blessed to have HOD!

Just chiming in to agree with all the posters! I am so thankful for what HOD has done in our home and for our school! My children are learning WAY more than I ever learned in school, and ENJOYING the process more too! I have to agree with what Laura was saying about the indecision that so many other...

Re: FYI: Health Issues and HOD...

Thanks Carrie and Julie for updating us on your father's condition. We will continue to pray for him as well as the rest of your family, as these things always seem to affect many more than just the person with the illness. Thanks Julie for sharing a bit more about your dad, as that helps us so much...

Re: Need help finding a post about being 1 guide short...

You've already received such good advice already, so I'll just add to your already great suggestions! :D One thought would be to just plan the first quarter of the next four guides doing it at half speed. That way you stretch out the guides just a bit, and also gives your son a nice way to "ease" in...

Re: FYI: Health Issues and HOD...

We'll definitely be remembering your Dad in our prayers! We pray for HOD regularly as God uses this curriculum in homeschooling families lives, and are so thankful for all that you do to provide such a Christ-centered program for us to use! Rejoicing over the good prognosis for your Dad and w...

Re: Using multiple guides

Just wanted to jump in here to say that doing multiple guides with HOD can be VERY easy and fun to do! :D We started with HOD doing Preparing, Beyond, and LHTH. It was such a fun year and the days never stretched on. This year we did CTC, Bigger Hearts, and Little Hearts. They were fun and enjoyable...

Re: Help with follow-up

I know how hard this can be, to keep up with mulitple kiddos through the day! Especially when they are in a few different guides. I know Carrie has mentioned in the past that she works with each one on their student/teacher stuff and then later in the day has a little meeting with the child ...

Re: Problem with The Railway Children

We had the very same problem with this book! I think that there are just some books that are harder to get into than others, and for us, this was one of them. The beauty of homeschooling, and especially with the way HOD is set up is that we can easily substitute this book for another and it d...

Re: Just stopping in to say "hey!"

Glad to "see" you again! We've missed you! :D It is true that we need to sometimes just take time to focus on the Lord and what He wants to do in our lives! So happy you had a chance to reconnect and center on Him! We're also on unit 31 in Bigger this week, and are looking forward to Preparin...

Re: My dh brings some perspective to things

I had to laugh when I read this, because I recently had almost the same conversation with my dh recently!! :D My dh is not much of a reader, so he was pretty surprised to see just how much our son is reading in a year! I'm so thankful for his take on it, because it is such a good reminder of just ho...

Re: Figuring all this out...

I cannot comment much about beefing up MTMM for your high school daughter, however, there are a LOT of threads here that address beefing up a guide for high school. Just keep looking around and I'm sure you'll get a lot of good ideas for her! As for your sons, I think the sticking with the Bi...

Re: A Great Transition from CTC to RTR !

Thanks, Julie! :D He's really enjoyed the HOD guides that we've done so far, and is really looking forward to the ones to come! I wanted to share our experience just to testify to the fact that the "jump" from one guide to the next, isn't really a jump at all! Kids are really well prepared fo...
