Re: WH...

My daughter is using it. She is able to do the science and health pretty independently, but she enjoys sharing with me. We loved Pearl Maiden and Shadow of the King. The books are her favorite part, and the notebook has a nice amount of writing. Her narrations have picked up nicely. Unveiling the Ki...

Re: IPC lab work?

Do you need the guide next year anyway? If so, HOD graciously works with you next year on the package price, giving you credit for previously purchasing the guide. I am not exactly sure how it works, but I would give them a call.

Re: ? about the World History Guide

I sure hope so! I am!!! I am under the impression that we return them at the end for a completed guide, so you might not want to write on them as records to keep. I write notes to my daughter on ours; she checks off assignments; we highlight....etc.

Re: Has a revised high school guide plan been stated?

We are using the World History guide this year, and things have been going very well!! Everything comes just when it is supposed to. It is only my daughter and I who get behind. :)

Re: Science - Biology PACES - DVDs

If you don't have the world history guide, the DVDs do lay out the course of study. They tell the student exactly what to do. The world history guide has the student watch the video first and then read the PACE. I have my child do the opposite. I like the videos as a review.

Re: Science - Biology PACES - DVDs

My daughter is doing the science with the world history guide. She enjoys the DVDs and finds them helpful. We are doing all of the pace and the test as the review is helpful to her. We are not quite to the fourth pace though.

Re: DS15~juggling job and MTMM.

I only skimmed the other replies (I did see some great alternative time schedules), but I think I am the dissenting voice. It is OK if we have different opinions, right? :) It also makes it easier for me to refer to my oldest boys because they used something different for high school (since the HOD ...

Re: Is it time to uncombine? UPDATE!

She is missing the vowels in her spelling. I have my children clap the word as they say it when they are missing vowels. If the word has 2 claps, there are 2 syllables, and each syllable needs at least one vowel. This has been really helpful at our house. There is also, definitely, just a point wher...

Re: Ok, have a schedule...now what to do....?

Would it help if you said, "I am going to set the timer for 5 minutes. As long as you work hard and do your very best, we will stop when the timer goes off."? Then you could write out the rest of the verse for him. The goal, of course, would be to grow into the writing by the end of the guide. You w...

Re: Struggling and exhausted! What am I doing wrong?

I would stick with the Education Exploration since that is going well. I would drop the other science books. The program by itself is enough for a credit. You can use those books as extra reading if that is a viable option when you get to the next guide (if you switch to CTC now).

Re: Seven weeks in and loving our HOD school year, as always

My second boy had to have repeat wrist surgery a few years ago. I remember the long healing process. I am reliving that with you! I am so glad your year is progressing well (with great learning!). We skipped the geography guide to get world history in for my daughter, but I will have 3 using it next...

Re: Write With the Best - Time for ths item

I agree that we are often hard on our firstborns. We all want to be perfect parents and give them every skill they could ever need. I have 2 graduated and six at home, so I have the benefit of simply running out of time and having to set time limits. I think the time limit idea is a very good one (a...

Re: Morning Routine Questions for Julie

We have gone to just having room and kitchen clean up after meals on school days. There is a general pick-up now and then for a few minutes when it looks bad and I announce a 10 minute clean. On Saturdays we clean the house. This is working better for us.
