It's funny now that I think about it, but I've never written in any teacher's manual. I do write notes to myself on a separate sheet of paper, and stick it in the book for the upcoming lesson to remind myself of something. I just think the manuals are kind of "off limits" for me to write in. I was n...

Thanks for your help, Carrie! I think as you said, I should get going and try to finish with Beyond. I like the idea of the special day for bunny trails, and I may just plug that into my plans for each unit. I'm just so blessed to have found this curriculum, and also that it is working so well for us.

I'm curious where you've found to have the book cover laminated. I called the local libray (which laminates all of their paperbacks), and the librarian said they will not do this for the public. I also called a local book bindery, and they do not laminate book covers. Does a place like Kinko's or Of...

Dawdling through Beyond...

We should have finished week 2 on Friday of last week, but as the lesson began, I realized that I wanted to explore further some of the topics in history. I wonder if this is necessary, as we will be going through Bigger next year, and I don't want to get off on too many trails if we will cover this...

I don't know if this adds anything at all to help, but I started something yesterday that I think will work for me right now. I made a list of all the Emerging Readers and the units they go with, and also the extra books for each unit--grouped by unit. I plan on pulling from my shelves this weekend ...

Handwriting question...

I have never really used a "program" for my dgs, but instead have used some cheap workbooks from Walmart for handwriting. I have been looking at the Italic book C, and it looks nice to try. I'd like to start moving in that direction, but I'm wondering if we would switch to cursive after Italic, or d...

Thank the Lord that you and your dc are okay! What a scary experience too! I'm so glad to know that He provided someone there during your time of need. I understand not thinking to call any authorities, as your first concern was the safety of your family. I hope everything goes okay with the insuran...

Allison, I don't know if this helps at all, but here's what we have been doing. Keep in mind that we're not using Singapore. I have a set of linking cubes and also some of those colored round glass "stones" (I'm not sure that's really what they're called) from Dollar Tree. We do our math lesson, and...

I'm in the process of doing the same thing! I've got 2 gallon size ziplock bags with Beyond, Bigger, and Preparing written on them. I've been pulling books from my shelves and putting them into the bags to sort them out according to the programs. I thought that would give me an idea of what I ...

I'm a new user of the Beyond program with my 7 y/o grandson. I can only say positive things at this point with our journey through this program. What we've learned in just the few short days we've been using it is amazing! I've read ahead in the manual, and things look great to me. I love the book s...

New here--an introduction

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks here--finally decided to go ahead and order, and now I'm here to tell about what we're doing. After using so many different things, or I should say attempting to use, I finally became fed up with the way our school days were going. Straight down hill, and in a...
