Re: Phonics and guessing.....

Thank you both. I do think part of it is that she really wants to read faster. She doesn't like to take the time to sound it out, especially if it is a long word. It's nice to know other six year old do this too. :)

Phonics and guessing.....

My dd 6 is almost through with the Reading Lesson. We're on lesson 17. :D She is doing great, but has recently started guessing at words instead of sounding them out. Especially if we are reading a book with pictures, she will scan the page looking for clues before attempting to sound out some words...

Re: Little Hearts spelling and math questions....

Thanks Amy. That sounds like a good plan. :)

Kristin, I am going to continue using the Kinder book for science. I love the science portion of Little Hearts. I'm also going to continue with the Burgess books for storytime. My daughter loves them. :)

Little Hearts spelling and math questions....

Hi everyone! :) My daughter is six and about to begin 1st grade. We are about 1/3 of the way through the left side of Little Hearts and will continue using it for her first grade year, 4 days a week. I have the 1st grade recs for handwriting and motor skills all ready to go, but have some questions ...

Thanks, Val. That is what I was thinking. I'll probably just restart at the beginning. :)

Re: Has anyone used Bigger with a 4th or 5th grader?

Thank you all! I have quit second guessing myself and am getting so excited about starting Bigger. :D One more question- We started Bigger the spring before we began Preparing (about a year and a half ago), but we didn't get very far because of a move, then summer break, then we started Preparing in...

Re: Has anyone used Bigger with a 4th or 5th grader?

Thank you all for the encouragement. I really do feel Bigger is the best choice for my 4th grader. It sounds like the extensions add a lot more to the program, so I think my 5th grader will be fine too. Now, if I can just keep from second guessing myself again!

Has anyone used Bigger with a 4th or 5th grader?

We used Preparing last year (3rd & 4th graders) and loved it. :) I was planning to use CTC this year but after viewing the books decided to wait another year because most of them would be too difficult for my soon to be 4th grader. He has dyslexia, auditory processing disorder, and some attention pr...

Re: When ordering Preparing...

I hope I can help. You will need the economy package, these are history books that you read aloud to your child. You will need the economy science package, these are science books to be read by the child. You will need to choose between the basic package and the extension package, depending on the a...

Re: Preparing Question

Hi Patience. We have used Preparing this year (2 weeks to finish :) ) and have enjoyed it so much. The books in the basic package are scheduled for you daily. We have really loved these read alouds. :) The books in the deluxe package are also scheduled daily. Draw and Write through History is part o...

Re: ? Ordering Preparing

I'm almost positive you will need the basic package and the extension package. The basic package covers the read alouds. The extension package would cover the ind. history study. We are using Preparing this year, but my kids are younger, so we are using the easier ind. history package, not the exten...

Re: Preparing Hearts and Writing Questions...

Hi! :) I am using Preparing this year with a 3rd and a 4th grader, both boys. There is a lot of writing in our week. Carrie has done a great job spreading the writing out through the week, so each day has a manageable amount. There is dictation, copywork, narration (oral and a written one for histor...
