Re: Need more advice: DITHOR or Brit Lit (WG/WH) for HS Lit

Carrie, I just sat down with dd to refresh both our minds. She did read the Storytime books. She remembered them all, except for Candy Bomber. War Horse was her favorite, and even up to today she still talks about how it's been her favorite 'school' book (she even had me buy her a copy of the movie ...

Re: MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio

I would put the science in MtMM down as an elective. She did do science, and some colleges might like to see that listed. I just wouldn't count it as her official science (chemistry) credits. Some thing will go for the history. You will end up with 2 AH credits - one for MtMM and one for AH1. It is...

Re: MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio

Thank you, Carrie. Dd will be pleased to have Economics count for her. Mommy is also a bit relieved! :) Right now we are close to finishing up the WG guide. Her science for this year has been the IPC + lab. For the WH guide, she will be doing the biology + DVDs + labs. We are going to join up with a...

Re: MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio

Thank you, Carrie. This info helps a ton! For Economics in the MTMM guide, we did add to it. Dd completed the Bluestocking Guide alongside and we referenced the extra articles/readings and assignments it recommended. Is that enough to beef-up the Economics for high school credit? If not, I can conti...

Re: Literature in WH standing alone

We will be starting the WH guide this year, so I can't speak from experience. However, looking at the sneak peek for the WH literature, http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15016 , Carrie mentions that it falls under English 2. Original intents were a full year of World Lit, but t...

Re: MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio

I would give a full credit for history. If you did math everyday, I'd also give a full credit for the algebra. Ahhh. You gals give nice food for thought here. You sent me searching for more math info. Digging through some of the State pdfs on grad. requirements, I found that I can give a full credi...

Re: MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio

Thank you for the advice. Going by Carrie's info in the various beef-up posts, you need to combine histories from Rev to Rev and MTMM to be able to get a full credit in American History. My dd skipped the Rev to Rev guide, so only had one part of the history. Anyone know differently on this? I'll go...

Re: MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio

Hmmm...I hadn't thought of looking at 10-12th and plugging into 9th whatever is needed there to round things out. I worried about the sparse 9th grade year on the transcript. Am I worrying too much? Using a transcription service is looking pretty nice right about now. I have never heard anyon...

MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio

Third time is the charm, right? Attempting this for the third time, typing faster, before my computer eats the post yet again! Due to some family medical issues putting a huge dent into our school schedule/work load this year, I have had to go back to my dd's MTMM work and see what else I can muster...

Re: We're BEHIND! Help!

I second all those that are saying to keep at your child's pace and not to skip a guide. When you get to high school grades, just beef up the next guide for high school worthy credit. And, pick the brains of all here. Lots of experience and fab help on this board! :D I skipped a guide with my oldest...

Re: Need more advice: DITHOR or Brit Lit (WG/WH) for HS Lit

Thanks, Lynn. So then for transcript purposes, I would just award .5 credit in 9th grade for English grammar/composition. Then in another year, say 11th grade, she would get another .5 credit for literature in addition to her English credit that year? It'll just look like she completed 2 lit program...

Re: Need more advice: DITHOR or Brit Lit (WG/WH) for HS Lit

Here is Carrie's post on how to combine part of the literature from WG and WH to make a Brit Lit course: http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15016 Rereading with fresh eyes, it is still two courses/credits with how she suggests moving things around. Since I need an extra course.....

Re: Any tips/hints on taking school work (WG) on 2-3 wk va-c

Thanks for that idea. There are dvds/videos for geography and writing. I need to look at Geography since that might be too tied into the mapping, and be better off left at home. We may be able to take writing, as long as we can get a new laptop battery. Dd has been suffering with hand issues, so I a...

Any tips/hints on taking school work (WG) on 2-3 wk va-ca?

Our family is finally taking an 'out west' trip. In an attempt to not have so much to do when we return, our oldest will be taking some school work with her. She has about 7-8 more units in WG to complete. Life dealt us a trying year and we are not where I wanted to be at this point. It's been stres...
