Re: Ordering Bigger with questions

Thanks for your help, I appriciate your response. We have dearly loved every program so far so and are looking forward to using Bigger! We will be using Bigger for 2nd grade, so I will get the pack 2 books. Also I was wondering about the "project book" what it is and if it is reccomended! Thank you ...

Ordering Bigger with questions

Hi thanks for help, I am sure these questions may have been asked before so forgive me if this is redundant! I am in the process of ordering Bigger packages, and am needing a little guidance! 1) My daughter is a fairley strong reader, wondering about suggestions for DITHOR reading levels? pack 2 or ...

Re: Math woes

Please forgive me for beating a dead horse, I have some anxiety about math as many do and just want to be sure of using the best program because I desperately want my dd to not struggle with the same anxieties I did (and still do) about math. So I would like to ask one more question if you will forg...

Re: Math woes

Thanks, that is a good argument! I have been chewing on that and I think that I will go back to Singapore, and just
trust that it will fall into place soon enough. Thanks

Math woes

Hi, I haven't posted here in a long while. DD has been doing great with BLHFHG! But we have been having issues with math, thank you ahead of time for some insight. We did Singapore math in K, but she excelled and got bored with it. So we switched to Rightstart math about half way through LHFHG. I ha...

Re: bible verse in LHFHG

When we started LHFHG, I too was suprised that the scripture was not in the box...I soon realized that Carrie in her wisdom wanted us to actually open our Bibles to our children and read (of course I am assuming here, but I'm sure I'm assuming correctly  ) I know I have seen a thread on here on...

cursive in beyond?

DD is doing beyond and is 6.5, she has always exceled in hand writing, she prints at about a 2nd or 3rd grade level. She is begging me to begin cursive, which I know is not schedualed until bigger, but would it be prudent to let her begin it now, or is it best to wait. Any thoughts... My instinct pe...

Re: Anyone Else Doing Year Round School?

Us too! For one thing HOD is so teacher freindly and pleasent to use, it makes it so easy to not need a long break, we simply do not tire from it :D . Aslo it is so nice to stay in the "grove" of things. We do about three days a week, and if there is somthing that comes up or a vacation, we simply t...

Re: Scheduling Question

Being that HOD is a Charllote Mason style curriculum, she taught that lessons should be pretty short for elementary, especially the younger. I believe her philosophy was keeping lessons to around 15 minutes and as they got older to slowly increase that time. I know the reading lesson only has the dc...

supplimental science

DD is doing beyond,(which I have to say we are loving) and our state has hour requirements so I am always looking for suppliments. DD loves science so I was wondering if anyone else suppliments with science and what you have used. I have looked a little at AIG's science and it looks great, but that ...

Question about spelling in Beyond and advice on storytime

This week we started Beyond (and are loving it!!) I have a question about the spelling list. The "first grade" spelling list is too easy for dd, tried the "second grade list" which she did just fine on, so even though she is doing first grade, should I be using the first grade list, or is it fine to...

Finished LHFHG bitter sweet

Well dd finished up in LHFHG today. We worked hard to get it done and then we closed the book, both sat there for a sec looked at each other with a melencoly look and my daughter picked up the teachers manual that has been our companion for a year and hugged and kissed it and said goodbye. We ...
