Re: LHFHG with 1st grader and almost 5 yo

Thanks so much for all of your thoughts. You've definitely pointed out some important things! I just realized that I neglected to mention that I also homeschool my 3 older children. While they are much more independent, with the oldest being completely independent at almost 18, there are a few thing...

LHFHG with 1st grader and almost 5 yo

Hi there! I am beginning LHFHG next week with my 6 yo. Her 4 yo sister (who is also on the autism spectrum) will be tagging along on parts. I was wondering what your suggestions might be. I would like to go slowly, one page of plans per day, and complete the manual in two years, so that I can keep t...

So excited! Placed order, starting again soon!

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to say how excited we are to finally be starting again with HOD! My youngest 2 are 3 and 5 so they will begin with Little Hands. My 10 year old will begin Preparing, and I will have 2 high schoolers in the Geography manual. Cannot wait to get back to these wonderful books...

Thanks for answering so thoroughly SouthernMrs. and Carrie! I will talk with my son and see if this is something he would truly like to do again. :)

Re: Sneak Peeks: New World Geography Guide

Great, thanks Charlene, that is helpful. We have used HOD before for a few years and then with moves and new babies left for a few. I am excited about getting at least some of the kids back to HOD in the fall! In talking about it my oldest mentioned that he might like to do this too, so I wanted to ...

Re: Sneak Peeks: New World Geography Guide

If this has been discussed before, please feel free to point me in the right direction! My question here is this: For my son, who will be entering 10th grade in the fall, will the Geography guide be 'enough' as far as credits go for high school? He's a year ahead of the high school guides, as far as...

Re: Sneak Peek #2: New World Geography Guide

So which history subjects will be covered in the following guides? He is doing Lifepac History & Geography currently, but that is really just a fill-in for the rest of the year.

Re: Sneak Peek #2: New World Geography Guide

I have a quick question about this guide in general. If a child has done some (but not a full year) Geography in 9th grade, would you still recommend this guide for a 10th grade year or should we go with something else? I do realize that traditionally Geography is a 9th grade subject.

Re: Question regarding Beyond scheduling with 3rd grader

I did buy from them. And I have used the materials previously. I do know that he would likely get more out of it with the usual method. Trying to be responsible. I'll keep it to use with my youngers later if it doesnt work for him. Still trying to decide. Thank you for your input, Lourdes. :)

Question regarding Beyond scheduling with 3rd grader

Hello, there. It haas been a while since I've checked in here. We have completed our move to VA and are getting settled, though we do still have a few boxes and things left to put into place. However, we have begun our school year.....just last week. My oldest is using Beautiful Feet Books at his re...

Re: OT: Age of child at graduation

Thanks so much to all of you who have responded! There are some really interesting options here, so I will be perusing those. I know I have a very long way to go before I really need to worry about this. Thanks for trying to ease my mind, though. We are in the middle of packing and getting re...

OT: Age of child at graduation

Hello, all. This is a bit off topic, but sort of relevant too, as it plays into which guide I will choose for my son. I have some experience with Beyond, Bigger, and Preparing with my two older children. However, we have only had starts and stops with my younger son with any packaged curriculum. We ...

Re: Using HOD with child who has developmental delay

Julie and Tammy, Thank you so much for the wonderful words of encouragement! I know God has been preparing me over the last year for this. Even if things improve greatly and we no longer need 'help', at the very least He has given me a greater understanding of what it is like to have a special needs...

Re: Using HOD with child who has developmental delay

Thanks, Shannon. :? I feel silly that I even asked the question because it's so far off, but I was feeling overwhelmed and worrying. I'm glad that you, as well as the pp's, have found success. I'm going to take all the advice given here and work on what I can now. We will think about combining, or n...

Re: Using HOD with child who has developmental delay

Thanks, ladies. I know it's way too early to try to plan anything. I guess I was just letting myself worry, when really worrying isn't going to accomplish anything! My daughter already has her first therapy session set up for June 1st, which is a lot quicker than I expected, so that's a great...
