Hey, Renee, I would have loved to have met you there! Maybe we can meet next year and man the booth together! :D That is exactly what I meant when I said that I wished HOD was represented there. Without being able to actually see it, it is difficult to know or compare with what is out there. However...

Correction!! I'm sorry I misstated things. I was thinking about how much 400 really is - and I realized that the booths started being numbered at 100 and went to 400 something, so it is less than 400 - I was just thinking about the number of the booths that were listed. And several of the boo...

Yep, it's hard to believe, isn't it??? Lots of the booths are not for curriculum, but for add-on stuff, toys, crafts, hobbies, art, music, colleges, worldview, used books, etc. If you aren't careful, you can feel really guilty for all the stuff that you are NOT doing... This year was great f...

Missing HOD at Convention!
I have returned from one of my favorite weekends of the year - our annual homeschool convention. My husband and I have two long days together browsing, discussing, listening to great speakers, having meals with friends, and just getting away and getting refreshed. This convention was especially nice...

Thanks, inHisTiming. My oldest is past the level of dictation in the Bigger manual. And I do want some kind of plan for that in order to improve her spelling as well. I know some people just use Bible verses for dictation. I was wondering if Carrie had a plan she follows for dictation for her older ...

Dictation in Bigger with Older Kids
What do you use for dictation passages with your older kids doing Bigger using the Extension pack? Do you just pick a passage from something they are reading? And is that how you would do spelling as well? Just through the dictation passages? Sorry if this is obvious - I have looked for this answer ...

Caryn, I love that South African schedule! That makes so much sense to me! I am struggling with this whole topic right now. I have enjoyed reading everyone's perspectives. I love the idea of going year round with regular breaks and never really getting out of the flow of things and never really feel...

Thanks for sharing this! Things like that have happened over and over in my life as we teach our kids. Every time, I am just in awe and wonder of our God who cares about us enough to make little connections in our lives in the seemingly smallest of details. It is beyond my comprehension, but I am so...

Hi, Crystal! I haven't "met" you yet since I am fairly new here. I am so sorry to hear about your losses. I am also greatly encouraged to hear of the family of God taking care of their own! That is amazing that you can be back in your home so quickly. Our church burned to the ground a few years ago....

Well, see, I really want to do the extension pack as a read-aloud because I don't want to miss anything - and I know my youngers would love the books, too!! BUT, my older dd wants to have her own special things that is just for her to do. She is so excited about having the ext. pack schedule to do a...

Narrating with more than one student
How do you all deal with this? If I read a passage from our history book to three students and then ask for a narration - do you have one at a time go or do you only have one child per day narrate? I am thinking it will take quite a while for me to have all three narrate to me each time - and I woul...
