Re: WG English/Literature

The boys’ package has 7 novels; and I had one of my sons, who is a slower reader, read 5 of them for WG English. He also did EIW and the BJU literature study. I gave him 1 credit. BJU has the literature study listed as 1/2 credit. EIW is easily 1/2 credit or more. I think you’d be fine. One credit i...

Re: American poetry

My son completed US History I. There was plenty of American literature in it, but I don’t remember it including any poetry. Carrie includes daily poetry in the middle and lower guides, but I can’t think of any specific poetry books in the high school guides that we’ve used. My daughter read The New ...

Re: Sneak Peek: New High School Math Choices

My concern is that my son will properly take longer than necessary simply to avoid harder work. If I don't give him any "due dates" he will say he is still working on ___ for months. So I need some sort of pacing suggestions. (This child will avoid work if at all possible. But he is very smart and ...

Re: Sneak Peek: New High School Math Choices

Is there any pacing suggestions for MUS Geometry? I am using MUS for my two middle children for High School, which includes the Geometry. I don’t know if Carrie will schedule MUS in the guides, but the program is designed to be self-paced which is what I’ve loved about it at the High School levels....

Re: Res to Ref and Mystery of History

I had the original volumes of MOH when it was 1, 2, and 3 (4 wasn’t written yet.). Since she put volume 3 at unit 15, and since Linda wrote 2 before volume 3 it would have been available. I’m not sure of Carrie’s reasons, but I used the original volume 1. Both volumes 1 & 2 at the time included all ...

The days are long, but the years are short, Mama's! ❤
Yes, they are! ❤️

My oldest graduates this December. The years have flown by and are short. It seems like yesterday that I had 3 kids under age 4 and was choosing to home school.

Re: History Encyclopedia

I didn’t think to say which one I had bought! LOL I bought the DK World History that MFW sells; they have a start date of 5,000 BC instead of the standard DK. I own some of the Usborne ones, and they are okay. I like the MFW one better. I don’t remember the topics at this point, but I do remember th...

Re: History Encyclopedia

When I did Preparing it recommended Wikipedia on-line. We did use it some. You could use it for your research; I didn’t even know that it had been changed until your thread. A lot of History Volumes that have information that are like an encyclopedia are a single volume. My Father’s World sells a MF...

Re: History Encyclopedia

Another thought I had was my kids have used American Minute to search for a history topic and read an article. It is from a Christian point of view. They also did research on Answers of Genesis web-site which has some history mixed in with all of the science; they do have kid friendly parts of their...

Re: History Encyclopedia

It is not exactly an encyclopedia, and we can’t link on here. But, the Big Book of History at Answers in Genesis is a 15-foot fold out Time-line of the History of the world for children from creation to computers with a Biblical worldview and History interwoven. It might help? They also sell one for...

Re: Roll Call 2023/2024?

It is fun to read your posts about what your kids are doing! It brings back some good memories of CTC and Beyond. :D We are re-starting school on the 14th. My youngest, dd14 with down syndrome, is starting Kindergarten this year with LHFHG. She did so well on her second time through LHTH last year t...

Re: How much chore time?

I have 3 in High School, and my youngest is special needs. So these chore routines are what my 3 oldest are currently doing; it had some similarities in the earlier years, but has increased as they age. They all do a morning routine that consists of Bible reading, bathroom chores, make their beds, g...

Re: Sensitive Topic - Is the Bible Infallible

I would very gently encourage you to read Romans chapter 1 with the thought that it could help you sort through this issue. I remember re-reading many times over Genesis chapter 1 when we were working through the young earth versus old earth issue…it helped a lot to open my eyes to God’s Word. We we...

Re: CTC Geography as Independent

Isn’t there writing for the field work as well as narrations? It has been awhile since my ds did CTC, but I remember printing out travel log pages that he would write a paragraph onto. Yes? I would think reading it would be fine for her to do on her own. In the later guides my kids have come and fou...
