Re: Week-in-Review March 5-9

My daughter is on unit 20 of LHFHG and she was so excited to memorize Psalms 119:105. Apparently she is memorizing it for a Coop she also goes too and she was thrilled to teach me the actions her class had made up. I love when what we study in HOD connects to things they learn elsewhere. My DSs 9 an...

Re: Thank you for the wisdom of this board!

An update...I finished up the pieced together curriculum I was going to do this spring and did a unit on the Olympics. After reading the reply I got to this post I prayed and thought a lot. I realize my boys will place 1 in CtC and 1 on Preparing next year. After attempting Bigger and Preparing I do...

Thank you for the wisdom of this board!

Greetings! Last spring I rediscovered HOD and looked at the program placement charts planning to restart this year. My boys placed in Preparing and Bigger and my daughter placed in LHFHG. I asked several questions on this site and received advice along the lines that running 3 guides was fine; howev...

Re: Weekly Check-in: September 11-15

I attempted to attach a picture;however, the file was huge and wouldn't load. I love when activities end like this. Unit 7 Week 1 LHFHG Thinking Games box became creating idols out of our wood pile and knocking them down by throwing a kick ball at them. My boys who are doing Bigger and Preparing jus...

Re: bigger and preparing at the same time

After reading a lot of information about running both those guides, I decided to run both of the guides but modify a few things. We will do our math and language arts daily, skip the bible study portions (my husband does his own bible study with the kids in the evening that includes the same element...

Re: placement question...am I crazy??

We will be doing Preparing, Bigger, and LHFHG at our house next year also. In our house I have my 3 school age kids, a toddler, and a baby. I thought I would share how I plan to make these three guides happen. I have made some adjustments to make the Preparing and Bigger easier to use at the same ti...

Re: Preparing for Preparing

I can't speak from having used Preparing yet, but I can tell you how I plan to organize Preparing next year. 1) Vocab: I am taking a normal notebook and labeling it with tabs like a dictionary and having them record their vocab words. It will only be alphabetized by the 1st letter, but I feel like t...

Re: Another Question - LHFHG - Italic?

If you are interested in learning Italic Print and Cursive yourself, there is an adult book that teaches it. I have been able to learn quite a bit from it and the kids love when Mama does her "handwriting" at the same time as them. Here is the link to it http://www.handwritingsuccess.com/write-now.php

Extension questions for Bigger

Greetings! I am presently in the brainstorming process for 2018-2019 (I plan an extra year out so I can slowly buy materials throughout the school year before). We used LHTH and LHHG for our first two years of schooling. Then I decided I liked to and wanted to piece my own curriculum together, but I...
