Re: Which guides to miss?

Geography isn’t a High School graduation requirement; it also isn’t required for college entrance. The essential requirements for High School graduation and college entrance for history are: U.S. History World History American Government It leaves time for an elective history year to get a full four...

Re: Which guides to miss?

There are links at the top of the board with guidance for using the middle guides for High School credit. A number of moms did use the middle guides for High School credit before the High School guides were written. Here is a link, and if you follow the links on it you should get a lot of helpful in...

Re: State history

My son did the MTMM state study this year, and he really enjoyed it! :D As Stephanie indicated, it could be swapped out for a once a week box in another guide. The teacher’s schedule that comes with it would make it easy to do. Or, if you prefer and plan on doing MTMM at some point you could order t...

Re: Placement Help

Hi! Little Hands to Heaven is all about learning the letters and letter sounds. I would combine the 5 year old who doesn’t know her letters and sounds with the Pre-K in LHTH. I would wait on the two year old. The 7 year old sounds like they would fit well in Beyond. You have used Beyond and LHFHG; w...

Re: Dictation

Thank you ladies for your replies! :D Congratulations Rice for your 14 year old finishing level 8! :D I hadn’t read up on dictation in a few years, and I had forgotten that one sentence at a time is the goal and that phrases are also perfectly fine. Prior to posting this question, I tried to find so...

Dictation

Hello Ladies, When you reach the longer dictations, do you continue reading one sentence at a time, or do you increase the reading to 2,3,or more sentences at once? I’ve continued reading one sentence at a time for my children to write as the dictations have lengthened, but I wondered today if I sho...

Re: Extension Package for Bigger as Read Aloud

I just want to be reassured that there will be enough next year and the year after that, enough for my son to read and for me to read aloud..I'm just feeling like we could definitely use a little more, and I don't want to feel that each year.. I felt the same last year, but then I had a younger tot...

Re: Need Help/ Ideas - Resurrection- Reformation

Does he know the intended age range of RTR? Does it bother him? It sounds like you made a prayerful decision, and had good reasons for picking it. My oldest, who actually has always been quite advanced for his age, needed CTC for work load reasons. We also made a prayerful decision. Sometimes though...

CM Question / Copywork

I understand the reasons behind continuing dictation, oral narration, and written narration through the middle and upper years. I myself have seen fruit from these methods, and I am grateful for how much they have helped my children in the learning to write process. I understand also all of the copy...

Re: Decided to combine 2 kids - what does your day look like

As my kids get older, I would be more okay at some point splitting them up. But right now, I just need to simply. I do love that my oldest's day only takes me 1-1.5 hours per day. I think I could consider splitting them once they get to the point. But for now, it is just too much teaching time. But...

Re: Decided to combine 2 kids - what does your day look like

So, my question is for those who combine - as your kids get older, what does your day look like? What do your kids do together? Anything "T" would obviously be done together. I can probably do most "S" items together. I do look forward to teaching the writing components together. Do your kids compl...

Re: Putting My Oldest in School

I can tell that you are really putting a lot of thought into this decision and want what is best for her. Our local schools allow homeschool teens to play on their sport teams without attending their schools. Is that a possibility for you? I know homeschoolers who have gone that route. It is high ex...

((Hugs)) I remember your other thread about your challenges with your two adopted daughters last month. I wanted to tell you that you are doing an incredible job with a difficult task, and may the LORD bless you in your giving to Him through your love and teaching and giving to your precious childre...

Re: Alt. storytime for LHFHG

Hi! I am doing LHTH with my 5 year old and am taking it slow to give his fine motor skills a chance to catch up. In the meantime, I'd like to add a storytime similar to what is in LHFHG, but I'd like to save the Burgess books for when we actually do the guide. I know I've seen recommendations on he...

Re: Best Books for Christian Character

Hi Hope, Thanks for the reply. What I am trying to do is find a book for each Christian character and then just do the Godly Character Traits sections in DITHOR, would you suggest any particular books that may fight one trait that is listed by Carrie? Kind Regards Sherid The Little Pilgrim's Progre...
