Re: High School Credits

StilJulie,
I am nowhere close to covering high school, but I read this from the Geography Guide http://www.heartofdakota.com/hearts-for ... school.php
I hope this will help!

Re: Carrie and Julie's Dad

Julie and Carrie,
I am lifting your family up in prayer.
The first introduction that I had to Heart of Dakota curriculum was through your dad at the Arlington, Texas Book Fair. I am honored to have met him for those few minutes!
Hugs,

Re: Week in Review Sept 12 - 16, 2011

We are using Preparing this school year with DITHOR - which is awesome... Samuel, who is 9, does extremely well if his assignment has anything to do with a computer, so his book presentation for the realistic fiction genre was done as a power point presentation. Please take a look! http://www.author...

Re: A First Book in American History

Don't be discouraged! The language might seem ancient but they will get used to listening - it took us a while. Plus they don't always have to narrate after listening to the readings in this book!

Re: should we do Beyond at half-speed?

Taking 2 years to do Beyond sounds good. Your children will not get bored, but you might get frustrated with the slow pace! Bigger is more intense. My 7 year old was able to do it just fine, but he lacked maturity and focus for the work to be done without a fight...so we worked on Bigger at half spe...

Re: Preparing Placement Question

RuthAnn, Slowing down Bigger sounds like a good idea or even assigning a certain box from Bigger to do independently, such as Vocabulary, Handwriting or even just getting the book/pages ready for you to read the History. I've had to do that this week with my almost 8 yr old now that his cousins have...

Re: Anyone doing bigger with a 2nd grader?

Hi Beth! We are doing Bigger. My son is 7 - we completed Beyond last year for 1st grade, so Bigger will be our 2nd/3rd grade curriculum. I would highly recommend that you don't skip Beyond. It is such a great program. Everything about it is REALLY good. Bigger was challenging at the beginning. There...

Kristen, We also home-school all year round. Right now we are experiencing changes with family moving into our house for a while and I know school will not be the same while they get settled in. So I have decided to do 1 page of the Guide 5 days a week and rules for electronic games and TV remain th...

Justin Morgan had a Horse

What a great book! I think that is what we say at the end of every book that Carrie has chosen for HOD! Thanks, Carrie for such great choices and the peace moms can find in just ordering all the books, knowing that they will be excellent! I never thought I would enjoy a book about a horse and a boy!...
