Thoughts on My Book House?

(Is it ok to ask this here?) One of the reasons I love HOD is that it is conservative in its approach to literature, including fairy tales and myths, etc. I have a daughter who devours books after school-time, and I'd love to have a set like "My Book House" for her to just pick up and read in her sp...

Re: Proverbs + Character Traits in Bigger

Thank you, Carrie!
That makes sense that they connect with the history! I haven't done this guide yet, so I don't know all the ins & outs, but am preparing to use it for next year. :) I will go forward as listed, and we are so looking forward to it! It looks like an AMAZING guide!!

Proverbs + Character Traits in Bigger

So...I am a little confused as to how some of the Proverbs illustrate the character traits in Bigger Hearts! Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe someone can explain some of them to me? Or did you sub verses that made more sense to you? Thanks!! These are the ones that I'm having trouble w...

Thanks, Nealewill! This sounds great! I looked on the website and can't seem to find it, though...would you mind giving me the link?
Thank you!

Historical Art Book?

Hi! We are in Unit 26 of LHFHG, and just read a story about George Washington crossing the Delaware during the War of Independence, and the text mentioned a painting depicting this scene. We looked it up online, and my girls and I really enjoyed this fine art visual to complement our history today! ...

Struggling SO much with reading aloud!

I am so discouraged...My daughter is 6.5, and we are doing LHFHG for 1st grade. (My younger daughter, who is 4.5 is doing it with us, with phonics at her level) I LOVE this curriculum so much! But the struggle we're having is that my 6.5-year-old simply does not listen when I read anything aloud (Bu...

Re: Help with little ones?!

I would say YES it is worth getting a copy of Beyond for the math activities! They're great, and half the time we just do those and skip the worksheets! ;) And doing the different read-aloud sets per round sounds like a great idea! :)

Difference between Beyond guides?

Hi! Someone has offered me a 2006 copy of Beyond Little Hearts, and I am wondering how it is different from more updated guides. Especially math--does the 2006 guide use the same math as current version? Thank you!!

Re: Help with little ones?!

sierra1410--I hope you don't mind me piggy-backing on your post! (I haven't gotten any replies on mine yet ;) We have actually been going through LHFHG at half-speed. The original plan was to use it for K and 1st. My goal was to get thru K math/phonics/writing this year, but we dont' end up doing it...

Re: How do I manage different levels with littles?

I would do LHTH again with the higher level devotional with the 2 of them. I'd also add the Kindergarten Essentials Math from Little Hearts for His Glory (LHFHG) for your 5 yo, as well as a handwriting program that works on the formation of letters. A Reason for Handwriting K or Italic A would be t...

rumkimom--there are some new activities, but many times the math box just says "do such and such page in the math book". I will pm you too!

Re: Little Hearts: Difference in updated guide?

Oh no!! So disappointing! I was looking forward to the math activities. I just realized that the online sample is not the same as what's in the new book. :( I found that on the FB group, someone went through and matched up many of the activities from the old guide to the new math books. Is there any...
