Re: MTMM for partial high school credit - our scenerio
It might also work to consider arranging your transcript by subject instead of by grade. If you are able to put "Mathematics: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2," eg, it won't matter as much when they were completed. Another thing you might consider is labeling your math "Secondary math 1." It sounds ki...

Re: I would love to know more about HOD ~ Questions?
I can't answer all your questions, but I can answer a few of them. :) We have homeschooled for many years, and I have 2 in college right now. Carrie's kids are a bit younger than my older ones, and HOD was not available when my older ones were younger. Because of this, I just came to HOD this year w...

Re: Question about oral narration in MTMM
Are we supposed to be writing out their oral narrations? I'm only in RtR, so I haven't seen the instructions in MtMM, but I had presumed that oral meant they spoke it and it didn't need to be written.

Re: RtoR Encouragement needed :)
We are taking it a bit more slowly than the previous posters. We came to HOD this year from a different program, one which has the parent reading to the child for most of the history through 8th grade. My dd is 12 and can read to herself, but she loves to have me read to her and she misses the close...

Minor problem with RtR unit 3 day 3
I'm guessing this is just an oversight, perhaps from moving the books around a bit over time, but I wanted to let HOD know that Unit 3 Day 3 of RtR asks for a resource that isn't part of the books for the course It's in the Timeline section, and it says to draw a specific shield, which is found in F...

Re: IEW Student Resource Notebook
When I printed it, I found that I needed to find page 19 in the student book, not page 19 of the Adobe file. The computer program counts its pages from the title page, so all intro pages, the page with the copywrite info, the table of contents, are all given a page by the computer. But the pages we ...

Re: first day with RtR
This is my first year with HOD, and we are near the end of unit 2, but we have been working for about 3 weeks. In the beginning, we tried to do everything. But at some point in the afternoon, we just both felt "done." So I'd just say, "Ok, that's enough. We'll pick up where we left off, tomorrow." S...

Re: example of poor thinking skills
If you can get the testing paid for by insurance DO IT! Presuming they do it well, you will learn a lot! We paid for it ourselves, years ago, with my child who is now 19. It cost us $1500, and I'm glad we did.

Re: example of poor thinking skills
If she really has a hard time with this task, then she has a genuine learning disability. And to be clear, there is no reason I can see in what you have told us for her to be "faking" this. It's not common for a 13yo to be "so lazy" that she takes over an hour to do a simple task. A truly lazy perso...

Re: New to HOD - do I quit the co-op my kids love?
I have a couple of ideas, but since I'm also new to HOD, I hesitate to post them. We have a twice a week co-op that my kids love. I know that if I said, "we will do HOD this year, but it will mean no co-op," I would have to put down a rebellion. (No, my kids aren't perfect yet. :) ) I'm thinking tha...

Re: Getting Ready to Start up again
I've been wanting to start already, but I think I'll do it August 3. My dd has one more week of dance intensive, so we'll get going when she's done.

Re: Credits?
I haven't used HOD for this (yet? I'm about to start HOD with my youngest in 7th grade), but I have graduated 2 students from homeschooling. The best quick explanation I've seen is from HSLDA. It's on their non-member section, so you can look there for their high school page. In most states and for ...

Re: To extend or not to extend?
Thank you to all who responded. My dd is definitely a "young" 7th grader, with her birthday not until later this month and being mildly dyslexic--she can read pretty well, but not very quickly, and her spelling is not good. The amount of writing in RtR is going to be a challenge, I think--I'm sure s...

Re: Middle school nature study
We will skip Rev to Rev but not MtMM. (I couldn't remember the exact acronym so I just put in the Ms. :) ) We just did a lot of US history this past year, and I really want her to be able to do 20th century history alongside her big sister who will be doing it in 2 years with a different program, so...
