Preparing Science: Reading too Difficult

My 9 yo son fits perfectly into Preparing in every way *except* for science. His handwriting is impeccable (both print and cursive), he is fine with written narrations (of course, at just unit 6, I am still helping him formulate his paragraph), he literally loves dictation, he loves the books, etc. ...

Re: Thank you, thank you, thank you!! :)

I agree with all of this! We started 10th (WH), 8th (CTC w/ extensions), and 4th (Preparing) this year -- and I am once again continuously amazed by this thorough, Christ-centered curriculum!

Re: High School Independence

Julie,
Thank you for sharing the links and the "how's" behind each portion of the World History guide. I feel like I have a clearer idea of how it will all unfold -- and I haven't even looked at the links yet! I appreciate your response. Now I'm off to do some reading!! :D

High School Independence

My daughter is on week 19 of WG, and she has enjoyed it immensely. She loves reading, so HOD has always been a great fit for her. :D As we look to move forward with the high school guides, I have a question regarding *HOW* the learning is done. Is the learning guided, or is it all independent interp...

Struggling Learner Getting Further and Further Behind

My son is 12 (13 in February), and he is a struggling learner with dyslexia. He places somewhere between Preparing and CTC...yet CTC is brutal for him. He can read and retain absolutely NOTHING for an oral narration (have not even attempted a written narration in CTC). I have to help him with every....

Re: Need Help with High School Science Path

I wouldn't focus on the honors track if she isn't interested in a career in a science field. I looked up the graduation requirements for Georgia, and this is what a found (from the Department of Education website): Science: Four units of credit in science shall be required of all students, includin...

Need Help with High School Science Path

Hi. I have 2 questions that I would appreciate help with!! :D 1) If my daughter is not interested in going into a "science field" in college, should she bother with a Honors Science Track? (My daughter is very bright and has always loved school and thrived in her learning. The natural choice would b...

Re: Looking for ideas to keep MAMA accountable

I don't really think that waiting until the 5th day would be very feasible for me (or my daughter). That is a LOT of work to check at one time. I think I somehow need to build a "check-in" time into my own schedule so that I'm remembering to look over everything she does each day.

Looking for ideas to keep MAMA accountable

Hey there! My 3 kiddos are working through HOD this year. My oldest is completely independent in MtMM, my middle is going through Res to Ref with modifications (he is severely dyslexic), and my youngest is in Beyond. I need suggestions on how to keep on top of my oldest's work and progress. My daugh...

Re: Can you combine read alouds??

ABSOLUTELY!! My oldest is in Rev to Rev this year, and she does her story time books all on her own. But, I have all 3 of my kiddos join our "family story time" each day. I usually choose a book from my middle's book list. All of the books from HOD are so well chosen that you cannot go wrong reading...

Re: 8th Grade Science -- Need help!

She is finishing up the physical science in Rev2Rev right now. She's done great with it. So are you saying that with the Rev2Rev science + the MtMM science that would equate to a complete physical science program? That would be amazing if so!

8th Grade Science -- Need help!

In my state, students take physical science in 8th grade. Students on the Honors Path are required to take 4 further sciences in high school (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and a "you choose" science course as their 4th credit). My daughter will be in MtMM next year. She loves looking through the HOD ...

Hi, Julie. (I wish there was a way to get "notified" with responses so that I would know to check back! If there is an option...I don't know about it.
