Re: Switching from MFW mid year - Help!!

Welcome! We also switched our older kids from MFW to HOD at an unconventional time: October 28, 2013. Nealewill stated many of the points I was going to make so no point in repeating :) . I will say our transition took about 3 weeks, and we took it slow and completed one day's worth of work in two d...

Re: Anyone use HOD for more than 2 kids?

[quote ="EmilyJo"]Thank you everyone who replied! I am really so excited to start using HOD. I think I will take 2 years to go through little hands with my 4 year old and that will lighten the load a little. And you nailed some of the things that I wasn't loving about MFW. I only wish that it wasn't...

Re: Five guides

Whoa mama! :D Running five Guides is impressive!! :D It is fun to think of which guides our children will be in next year. Eventually I will be running 4 guides. I am just glad that my older kids will increase in independence, otherwise there is no way I would be able to pull it off  . Next s...

Re: Starting HOD in high school?

Have you had a chance to look at the placement chart for your kiddos, including the 11th grader? HOD is different than MFW and is skill based. The placement chart should help narrow it down. It is kind of fun to glean over, too ;-).

Re: After DITHOR 6/7/8

We are using the emergent readers now. Perhaps I should wait to decide closer to second grade? I will be ordering soon so I wanted to get everything to take advantage of free shipping :) .

Re: After DITHOR 6/7/8

That was very helpful! Thank you! We will press on :) . It will be nice to have both of my boys in the 6/7/8 workbook next school year. This year my younger is finishing workbook 4/5, and I get confused sometimes when trying to follow the directions for both of them at the same time.

After DITHR 6/7/8 & Beginning DITHR 2/3

What do you do after DITHOR 6/7/8 if your student would like to do something else for reading? Do most people repeat DITHOR 6/7/8 but use other books, or is there another item that is recommended? As for my rising second grader, I am not sure if she is suppose to go into DITHR or not. Perhaps you la...

Re: Complete Rod and Staff Writing Assignments?

I don't know what others do but I use the TM as a guide. IEW is so full and takes my son about 40 minutes to complete. Therefore, if the R&S writing assignment falls on a day where he has to write a rough draft or final copy for IEW, then I skip the R&S writing. We go over the lesson orally but that...

Integrated Physics and Chemistry

Do you need the WG TM to get the most benefit from IPAC or does it follow the intended sequence from the publisher? IOW, can IPAC be fully utilized without the TM? What benefits are there to having the WG TM? Thanks!

Thanks :). Has HOD ever been to Phoenix? If not, who could blame them for not coming to the low desert in July when it is 120* (just kidding  ).

Re: Student Notebooking Pages - writing utinsel?

We use Ticonderoga pencils and regular Crayola colored pencils. They work fine. However, erasing anything...pencils or color pencils alike, will leave a white spot on the tan colored pages. :?

Does HOD have a posted convention schedule? HOD hasn't been to Phoenix in the last couple of years so I am wondering if you guys ever come here? Are there any curriculum expos in lieu of the convention?

Thanks!

Re: MTMM for High School

Julie, Thank you SO much for taking time to help me!! I copied and saved your post for future reference, as I know I will refer to it frequently. Maybe beefing up MTMM isn't as scary as I expected it to be :D . After reading your post and going over the links posted by Nealewill, I decided it is per...

Re: Science for STEM Students

We aren't looking to necessarily increase volume and do two different science programs at the same time such as both science options in RTR. I do like your idea of using the advanced EE science in Rev 2 Rev in 7th grade, and Chem 101 DVDs along with the scheduled science in MTMM in 8th. The issue th...
