English 8 Grammar Question

Hi, all! We are experiencing some confusion with Chapter 10, where we are learning that noun clauses can be objects of prepositions. We are also adding some prepositions to our list that were previously only subordinating conjunctions, i.e., "as" and "when". My question is: How can you tell the diff...

Re: Extension Pack directions-Revival to Revolution

Thanks for reading! I have what I need via private message. :D

I'm glad I asked because the instructions added more than I would have thought. I guess that goes with what Nealewill said, that the instructions are challenging at first. :)

Have a blessed day, all!

Re: Extension Pack directions-Revival to Revolution

Thanks for your reply, Nealewill! :D You are an early riser! We are in our 4th guide now. I've noticed this progression & appreciate it very much. It's one of the reasons I love this curriculum and am committed to make it work for our family. It builds steadily and deliberately upon skills laid down...

Extension Pack directions-Revival to Revolution

Hi, all. I posted this question before and didn't get a response. I'm rephrasing it in case it wasn't clear before. The extension pack instructions for Resurrection to Reformation indicate one day for a 5-sentence summary oral narration, one day for a 5-minute detailed oral narration, one day for a ...

Extension Pack activity directions-Rev to Rev.

Hi all! My son finished R2R midway through 7th grade. It took 18 months, and we had a difficult time. He was just not ready for the increased number of independent boxes in the next guide. I decided to combine him with my younger son in Preparing for the remainder of the year. He used the extension ...

Ladies' Bible Study Invitation

Hi, all. :) Hope you ladies are all having just a super time discovering the Lord with your kiddos through HOD. I feel that my personal quiet time needs a push and have been considering starting a Beth Moore Bible study (no clue as to which one yet.) Would anyone like to start one together and check...

Re: Problems with Medieval History Writing Lessons

Thanks so much for sharing everyone! :D Carrie, it helps so much to know that it's the PROCESS of writing that's important right now, and that he IS learning something from watching me do it. Yesterday, I had him narrate a rendering of the portion of the story we're doing and do the brainstorming ex...

Re: Problems with Medieval History Writing Lessons

I tried following some of your suggestions today, ladies. I am so torn about this because I hate deviating from the guide. They are put together so well. I know that everything has a purpose and I don’t want my son to miss anything. He was able to straighten out some of the mixed up sentences, but w...

Re: Problems with Medieval History Writing Lessons

I thought I just posted a reply, but it is gone. Hopefully it won't show up again later in duplicate, but here it is again: Thanks so much for your replies! :) LynnH: We are doing R&S as scheduled in the guide right now. He is on Lesson 95 out of 119 in English 5. My concern is that he’s at the very...

Problems with Medieval History Writing Lessons

Hello. I know you ladies always give great advice, so I’m finally here with a situation that’s been a problem since probably week 3. My oldest DS is on Week 21 of R2R. He’s 12. He should love Medieval History Writing Lessons for the fun writing projects, but the method has him pulling out his hair. ...

Re: Saxon vs. Singapore Math

Thank you already for the input!

Oldest ds is in 76. We use the Mr. Reed dvds. Youngest ds is about to start 54. I had planned to purchase the dives for him because Mr. Reed isn't available in that level.

Thanks again for the help.

Saxon vs. Singapore Math

Hi, there! I have been using Saxon with my boys since my oldest was in 2nd grade. He is now in 6th. I haven't wanted to change to Singapore because I love Saxon's method--the way the concepts are presented so incrementally. With both my sons, I barely have to teach anything until 4th quarter because...

Such integrated Bible study and character development! Such tantalizing (& delicious) projects! The boys love the projects so ...

Re: Sonlight vs. HOD

Hi! I totally agree with LovingJesus. But I also want to add some practical things. I don't know what ages your children are or how many you have. I tried using SL so I could teach both my children the same things. The curriculum assistants told me that it would work, but it didn't. My oldest son co...
