Re: Am I stressed out over nothing?
My just turned 6 yr old is the same exact way so you are NOT alone. We are on lesson 17 in TRL and that is definitely his least favorite subject. He actually likes to do his lesson (1 page) first so he can get it out of the way. He still sounds out alot and can't seem to remember some of the sounds ...

Re: questions about singapore
Singapore is more advanced and also follows a different scope and sequence compared with several other math programs. 3b and 4a is actually considered 4th grade according to the Singapore website. I would definitely start him in 3b if that is where he places and you can move as quickly or as slowly ...

KJV Memory Verse Songs for LHFHG
Has anyone been able to find a KJV CD with songs that match the memory verses in LHFHG? I've searched some of the past threads but it doesn't look like there has been anyone to find a close match. We use the KJV and I think it would be confusing to have them learn their verse in KJV and then sing a ...

Re: The Reading Lesson question
It's the same thing...the child will move from left to right and say the sounds of the letters (b or d) and then sound out the word containing those letters. Since those two letters are very hard to differentiate for most children they devoted an entire page just to practice recognizing those two so...

Re: The Reading Lesson question
I'm not home right now to look at my book but I believe that the child reads each sound to you as a review of all the sounds they have learned so far. That's how I've used it with my children. I just put my finger under each letter and they tell me the sound. HTH!

Re: Reading Troubles
Thank you so much ladies for your replies! I have been given several great tidbits of advice! I have put aside TRL for now. I may not start it again till the end of July when we start school back. I will definitely do the review of key words when we resume though at the beginning of each session as ...

Re: Reading Troubles
Thank you Melissa for your encouraging words! My ds sounds alot like your dd...if he doesn't get the word right the first time, he breaks down. It is so hard for me to stop reading completely as I feel we have gone so far and are sooo close to finishing TRL. I noticed that by not doing TRL for just ...

Reading Troubles
My ds 6 is on lesson 17 in The Reading Lesson and it has become absolutely TERRIBLE to get him through a lesson the past 2 weeks. We are out on summer break but we are continuing with one page per day in TRL till we start school back at the end of July. This year he has done well in TRL for the most...

Re: LHFHG 1st grade options or Right side of Beyond?
Thanks Melissa. Yes he did finish the Kindergarten FM workbooks this year. After looking at ARFH A, I think he actually might do better with copywork instead. It looked like a LOT of repetition and I had to really push him this year to complete the K handwriting workbook so I don't have a good feeli...

Re: LHFHG 1st grade options or Right side of Beyond?
Thank you for the replies. We did everything on the right side of LHFHG last year except for the storytime box. I saved that for this year so both dc could do that together. I think my ds is ready for the spelling portion but I also add in explode the code and I don't want to overload him with writi...

LHFHG 1st grade options or Right side of Beyond?
My ds (just turned 6) finished up LHTH with his younger sister (4) the beginning of May along with the right side of LHFHG. I am planning to combine them in LHFHG in July and wanted to get opinions on whether to do the right side of Beyond with my ds or do the 1st grade options with LHFHG. This year...
