Re: Rays arithmetic? Teach your child to read in 100 lessons?
We haven't used those two, but we have used a different math and different phonics programs with this guide. Ask of them have done Horizons Math (K or 1, depending on the child, some switched part way through the guide). Oldest did Horizons Phonics 1 and then jumped into the Emerging Readers before ...

Re: Sneak Peek: New High School Math Choices
Is there any pacing suggestions for MUS Geometry? I am using MUS for my two middle children for High School, which includes the Geometry. I don’t know if Carrie will schedule MUS in the guides, but the program is designed to be self-paced which is what I’ve loved about it at the High School levels....

Re: Not Giving 5YO Time He Needs
Have you tried having "quiet" time while he listens to something? We have done audiobooks, audio dramas, Scripture songs, and other quality music (either great quality music or songs with a message). My kids have done better being alone when it wasn't quiet

Re: Stepping back on LHFHG
We continued math, language arts, and storytime. We also had some Draw Write Now books that I assigned one drawing/writing from each week. Plus the middle two joined in on anything fun from my oldest's school during that time.

Re: Stepping back on LHFHG
I had a similar issue with my oldest two. They are 23 months apart, and they are now 2.5 guides apart (and could easily be 3 guides apart). #2 was fine with LHFHG and even Beyond, but he struggled with reading. So although they started off 2 guides apart, I paused him for a semester while he was in ...

I think it is used once. You could use something else like butter or coconut oil I think for that experiment.

Re: How much chore time?
I don't have a specific time for chores. But they have specific jobs. They all have a part of dishwasher to empty, and they are responsible for putting their dishes into the dishwasher as well. They all put away their clothes, and the older two are responsible for the actual washing (I fold) of the ...

Re: Preparing specifics/ special needs
First, are you doing Rod and Staff still written? We do most of it orally. I only have my kids (after Level 2) write if the material is easier done written. So that would be the actual writing assignments, diagraming, and occasionally something that is more spelling dependent. Many days I don't make...

Re: Preparing supplies (notebooks)
For vocabulary, your have a few options. You can use index cards and store then in a box alphabetically. You can use a spiral or composition book with a couple of pages per letter of the alphabet. Or you could put them in a binder, starting with a page per letter (and adding pages as needed). For En...

HODb uses The Elements in MtMM. Since of the games and activities are actually listed as 8+, so they might be good for your child.

Re: How many guides can I teach at one time?
Definitely see where they place! If they place in the same guide or one guide sissy, you can likely use the lower guide and combine them. If they are two guides apart, you can consider combining with extensions, but it might not be a time saver.
Maybe come back and share where each one places?

Re: What does your day look like?
I have four kids in four guides. My oldest is very independent, and since I outsourced literature and Bible, there is/was little she needed me for outside of dictation and grammar. I rotate through my kids, spending 30-60 minutes with each of the younger three. When they aren't with me, they are doi...

Re: MTMM for highschool
Since NY only requires try credits, I wouldn't even worry about it. You get three credits in WG-US1 if you follow Carrie's suggestions. Some add in a few things and follow the publisher of IPC's suggestion and award 2 credits. So that would get you 4 credits! So unless your child is going into a STE...
