Re: Sticky for Setting up for each guide?

That would be awesome! I would love to find a list of items we need for each guide as well as how others set it up.

Re: question about motor skills section in LHFHG

I am guessing that the website just changed to reflect the new guide, and some of us "jumped the gun" on ordering the new guide. I looked at the Rod and Staff website, and the new book is more advanced, which I like :)

Re: question about motor skills section in LHFHG

I know they had to change the 1st grade fine motor skills a few years ago because what they were using wasn't in print anymore. So, I am guessing what is listed is what is in the new guide. Mine doesn't arrive until Monday, or else I would go look it up.

Re: Getting Ready for LHTH and LHFHG

We have a scanner, so I was thinking of scanning everything at the beginning and then printing as needed. Has anyone else done this with any of the guides?

Re: Text Connection: necessary literature???

You can spend less, but it often means more work. Most of the complete curriculums out there are $200 for the early years. And many of those like Gwenny said use a lot more consumables that HOD. But, you can often find parts for HOD at used curriculum sales, etc I bet. The alter guides in HOD get mo...

Re: new to HOD and homeschooling - need confirmation and adv

On the phonics, the key will be deciding between the emerging reader or DITHOR. I am guessing she is about in the middle of emerging reader in skills (the original Amelia book is covered in Unit 14 of ER). But, you can look at the book lists for those two and decide where she falls (or Julie will ch...

Re: Getting Ready for LHTH and LHFHG

Great question! We will be doing LHFHG and LHTH this year too. I saw that LHTH has lots of pages you copy/print. So, I bet a binder for those will be very helpful. But, that is all I could find so far...

Re: Multiple programs at once

Although I have less kids, I am going to be doing 2 guides this year (LHFHG and LHTH). I have found looking at the schedules posted in the pinned topic to be great starting points. Also, there are posts with how long each box in each guide should take. That will help you figure out how to break up t...

Re: Text Connection: necessary literature???

Looks like the other two are the Bible study and math. I know the Bible study is optional. Math you could possibly do without the workbooks, but you would have to do some sort of reinforcement there for sure. It could be pages you print out from the web, worksheets you make, etc. So, if you had mone...

Re: ORDERED :)

It shipped today and will arrive on Monday supposedly. Now the "question" is when will be start. We are already doing phonics and math half speed over the summer, so we might start half speed LHFHG as soon as we get it :)

Re: Do I need the 2A/2B Math workbooks?

I agree that a consumable symbol would be nice. Or maybe a package of the consumable items per guide. It would be nice way for families to buy those for the next kid in line!

Re: LHFHG or Beyond?

Our oldest are the same age. I decided to do LHFHG this year. I thought about Beyond, but I didn't want to push that hard. We started with Horizons math and phonics last year. She finished the K math in February and phonics in April. And now we are working on 1st grade. In May, I "found" HOD and sta...

Re: Question about pre-ordering

I ordered last week. They haven't shipped it, which means I think we can. I stated twice that I wanted the new guide and would like everything to ship when it was ready. I got that idea from something either Carrie or Julie said... I will try to find the post about it.
