Placement help for 4 year old

My oldest child turned 4 in June. According to age, that would place my 4 year old in LHTH, but he is way past needing to learn letters and sounds (he's starting to learn to read simple stories), he can write letters/numbers (although not always placed correctly on the lines), he can do some simple ...

Re: Subjects for all children

Hi everyone. Thank you so much for all of your advice. These are some great things to think about. I was mostly asking for the future so I have options to consider, but currently we have 1 child (working on #2) and he's 2. We are doing some of the activities from LHTH 2-3 days a week, depending on h...

Re: Subjects for all children

Thank you so much for your insights. I definitely see where you're coming from. I hadn't thought about it in that light but it makes a lot of sense. I didn't think about the planning aspect and how that can save a lot of time with HOD.

Subjects for all children

This may be a dumb question but it's something I've been wondering for a long time. As I'm looking at curriculum, I see all these options for subjects that can be done all together (i.e. Science, history), and I wonder how that could be applied with HOD -- or really, how it works with any curriculum...

Re: Going to school after using HOD

Thank you so much for all of the responses. Reading the various posts was very encouraging. I am hoping that after a few years of homeschooling, DH will see the benefits of it and be more open to homeschooling all the way through, but either way, I will follow his leading in what he feels is best fo...

Going to school after using HOD

Homeschooling is a topic that has interested me for many years. I have a teaching degree in Elementary Education, and although the idea of homeschooling (especially into the Middle and High school years) is somewhat daunting to me, I feel strongly that God has called me to homeschool and that our fa...

Re: Matching Curriculum to Grade Levels

Thank you so much for all of the ideas and feedback. I knew there were other posts out there about this, but didn't know how to go about finding them. We'll have to see how things go. Thanks again!

Matching Curriculum to Grade Levels

Maybe this has been asked before, but I don't know where to look to find the answer so I'm asking it here. I noticed on the Scope and Sequence page that if you begin with Little Hearts for His Glory in Kindergarten, then Missions to Modern Marvels ends up being the 7th grade curriculum. Since the ne...

Re: Scheduling multiple grade levels

Thanks for your reply. It was very helpful.

If I did the K-2 books at 4 days a week wouldn't the school year be much longer?

Scheduling multiple grade levels

I recently discovered HOD and I am SOOO glad I did! Although my family is still a few years away from starting (my son is 10 months old), I've been interested in homeschooling since before I was in high school. Almost as soon as Hubby and I learned I was pregnant, I began researching the various cur...
