Seeing fruit in crazy season, thank you!

Hello, It has been awhile since I posted here, but wanted to say "thank you" to HOD for the guides we are using. CtC (my 10yo daughter) and RtR (my 12yo son). I have five kiddos, two of those are very young, (3 and 1). Homeschooling a wide variety of ages is not for the fainthearted. This spri...

Re: New to HOD

If you call them, they will walk you personally through the choices you need to make as well. They are very friendly and helpful!

Re: placement question...am I crazy??

Thank you, Melissa.
That is helpful! I was wondering how much longer it would take to stretch a 5 day guide out over four days in the long run. This is all helpful , thank you ladies.

Re: placement question...am I crazy??

kt7673, I really appreciate your reply! Lots to think about there! I will look at those guides again and see if we can do something similar. I had some other ideas for day 5 if we were on a 4 day schedule, but I really like the idea of having the project all on day 5. My son would probably appreciat...

Re: bigger and preparing at the same time

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, ladies! I am concerned about the workload and feeling too overwhelmed. My oldest started Bigger two years ago and we were in half speed mode for 20 weeks (only putting us in unit 10) by 2/3 through our year that I was very discouraged. He needed ...

Re: placement question...am I crazy??

Thank you, ladies! These replies are so helpful! I really do feel like the Bigger/Preparing combo is best for each child. Separate guides is really so much easier in so many ways, and as they move up into those older guides it will be easier! I can't imagine my kids having to share their guides with...

bigger and preparing at the same time

Hello, Starting a new thread to ask this question. :) I've been reading all over the forum and really looking at the placement charts. I am pretty sure my oldest DS (11yo) fits squarely into Preparing and my DD (9yo) fits best into Bigger. I was originally planning on combining the two into Preparin...

Re: placement question...am I crazy??

Thank you for your reply! I've had casual conversations with each of my oldest two separately to try to get a feel for whether they would want to work together. They both said they would prefer their own work. And probably looking ahead, it would be better for my son to stay a year ahead of her. Tha...

placement question...am I crazy??

Hi everyone, We've decided to go with HOD again next year after a year off! :D I'm looking forward to it! I'll try to keep this simple and reader friendly: Here is our situation: 4 kiddos, with #5 due in August. 3 oldest will be in HOD, one toddler, and one newborn. We just moved to a new town/house...

Re: Singapore vs. Horizons and confusing guide lineup

Hi, To respond to one of your original questions, my son started in LHFHG with singapore K and we made it partway through Singapore 3 before I let go of Singapore and started on our quest for a new math curriculum. My son is challenged in math anyways, as I've learned, and he wasn't getting enough s...

Re: Former dropout thinking about coming back to HOD

And, yes, we do need to make an concerted effort to finish things... I feel like part of it is my own character issue and personality. Praying through what would be the best answer to that dilemma  for us.
