Re: Organizing tips of old curriculum?

Thanks everyone! Looks like I have a consensus of simply storing everything together, at least ready and intact for my next child to use! :) i do like the idea of a mommy-approved shelf/chance to go through a favorite book too

Organizing tips of old curriculum?

Hi, ladies, We'll be moving to a smaller house in the next couple of months, and I was wondering how you normally store curriculum you've finished? We'll be done with LHFHG soon and my next child is only turning 2 this year, so I couldnt decide whether to keep everything intact by storing them as so...

What i love about HOD!

Hi, ladies, Just so happy with LHFHG... Over the past month, our family sked has been really busy, so we wound up doing mostly just the right side of HOD...but this month, we were able to get back on full speed, and my son just loves the rhymes in motion! And, also noticed that he seems to be listen...

Re: Read-Aloud Question

Wow, thanks for the suggestions, Julie! Will try the exaggerated reading! :) and your suggestion of the review sounds like something I can work on, too... I've tried giving a brief reminder of what happened the chapter before, but I think my review didn't really spark an interest for what might happ...

Re: Read-Aloud Question

Wow, thank you so much for these suggestions! :) I guess I never really thought of English as a foreign language for us in the purest sense of the word, maybe partly because, in terms of literature and the medium of instruction in schools in out country (until recently), we've always only been expos...

Read-Aloud Question

Hi, ladies, I'm not sure exactly what I want to ask. My ds5 is doing LHFHG and he absolutely loves it. But for two days now he's vocally complained about not wanting to do the read-alouds----we're now in Peter Cottontail. (Before this, he would just whine a bit whenever I took out the read-aloud boo...

Re: Christian missionary biographies

Thanks for clearing things up, Carrie! I guess I just got a bit too excited when I ran into some missionary biographies, hehe but your explanation makes sense about waiting til the kiddos are older. :) thanks very much for the time you put in arranging book recommendations for our kiddos' levels and...

Wow, thank you so much for these responses! MelInKansas, haha, I didn't know they were scheduled in Preparing, I guess that means we can just old off on some of these books! :D but thanks too, ladies, for the other book options, looking forward to checking them out. I do remember Carrie explaining a...

Christian missionary biographies

Hi, Does anyone have any experience with christian missionary biographies for kids? :) my ds5 is doing LHFHG this year and I'm trying to build up my book list for next year, and wanted to use christian missionary biographies as read alouds... So far I've found two sets of series, one the trailblazer...

Dug up some of my old books

Hi, Just dug up some of my old books from my mom's house, and I was wondering if I could use these as read alouds for my ds, he's 5 this year and using LHFHG. While he doesnt really need extra read-alouds this year as he's getting his feet wet with the burgess books, I guess I can't really stop plan...

Chronicles of Narnia?

Hi, Does anyone know which grade The Chronicles of Narnia would work best in as a read-aloud story? :) I remember reading Carrie's post that talked about emphasizing Bible history and American history first and postponing studying ancient cultures because of the issue of explaining mythology and bar...

Re: Not American... Question about doing LHFHG a second time

Wow, thank you very much, Molly, this is really encouraging to know! And I'm glad to hear that BLHFHG and BHFHG can both work for other nationalities! I like what you said about the skills and the love of learning that HOD successfully puts in place... Now I can breathe easier knowing we can continu...
