Re: Dinosaurs of Eden

Correct, but I believe you are afforded up to two substitutions. i.e. sub one book in the boy interest pack for for Dinosaurs of Eden. You may also be able to purchase it individually from the HOD bookstore.

Here is the link to the Literature section of the guide sneek peeks, which might answer some of your questions. This is not free reading, this is the Literature portion of your English credit (needed for graduation) .

Re: Bigger Unit 4 Day 2 Science - need help

Hmm... I already packed our guide book, but looking at her notebook entry, she did the oval flatworm. Is there an option on which to do? But I think you're on the right track!

Re: information needed about the kits

Two things I'd Like to offer up Dancinkayak, 1: You will be amazed at what your kids can handle, as opposed to what you thought they could handle coming out of public school. I know I was! They are capable of so much more than has been asked of them in the public education system. 2: The age ranges ...

Re: Why are there high school history books in CTC?

Just for fun I ran the first page of "The cat in the hat" through your link. It came back as third grade level. Every child is different, but most kids can ready "The cat in the hat" by the end of 1st grade I'd wager. So there is a possibility that the site program is off, or looking for specific ma...

Re: Why are there high school history books in CTC?

I'm finding the same data as the previous poster: Product Details Age Range: 6 and up Grade Level: 1 and up Series: Story of the World (Book 1) Also, I am finding that most parent with children at a 1st-4th grade comprehension level are reading the book out loud to their child, as opposed to the chi...

Re: New homeschooler

I took my son out of PS, and he really HATED doing any kind of school work period. Once we started using HOD, the wining started to disappear. He went from pulling teeth to read 20 minutes of required school reading, to reading 3 inch thick chapter novels...in his free time! You will be surprised wh...

I does work it'self out, and even so, we sometimes school on a Saturday, or Sunday afternoon during the winter months. We also don't take bank Holidays, and our winter break is only one week. with that, you end up getting more done than you realize!

Re: proçrastnation or too hard?

So yes, It does take a bit of adjustment, and there were days we started at 9am, and didn't finish until nearly 4pm because he just couldn't stay on track. BUT, by the end of the guide, he was starting at 9am, and finishing by noon, or 1pm. It just takes some getting used too. once you're in your gr...

Last day of school!!!

I can't believe it's the eve of our last day of school! We are on Unit 35 day 4 of PHFHG. I am so proud of my son. He has matured and grown exponentially since we started.I can't remember if I hugged you (Julie and Carrie) at the convention, but I'm hugging you now. I have a relationship with my 10 ...

Here is ours. I'm thinking He could have made his shapes larger, but oh well. We used a couple drops of white paint to lighten as went. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3827/9532891908_85d4d061a3.jpg IMG_4677 by pennylayne , on Flickr http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3821/9530123997_c2b034c532.jpg IMG_467...
