Re: Placement Advice

Any other responses? I wonder if also including DITHOR might change anyone's answer on whether to do Bigger or Preparing? I'm planning to start level 3 with her when it arrives. I hate asking over and over. I just want to be really sure I purchase the right set for her and enable us to be as success...

Placement Advice

Hi! We are tying to make our way back to HOD. I had planned to come back next year, but I don't want to wait. :D I do have a little predicament placing my oldest though. So here are the stats. My youngest is 6 1/2 (7 in November). She is a pretty precocious thing. She has understand very difficult b...

Re: Thinking of simplifying and combining

I thought I would update. We began Beyond this week. It is going so well. My daughter is truly enjoying the history readings and the story time. It really is perfect for where she is right now. I'm glad I decided to go ahead and keep them split up. Thanks so much for the advice!

Re: Thinking of simplifying and combining

Originally, I did not plan on combining. I thought that competition would not suit my oldest. I actually did not plan to start Little Hearts with my youngest until next June or July (or whenever she finished MFW K). She does place there according to the placement chart. I just like using MFW K the y...

Re: Thinking of simplifying and combining

Well, her reading has already taken off. She can read just about anything. The places she struggles with are fine motor and listening comprehension. We honestly didn't read much of the Burgess books this year because she didn't get them at all for quite some time. She is finally able to understand t...

Thinking of simplifying and combining

Hi all! I would like some advice from other moms. My girls are 22 months apart. My oldest is 6 1/2. She is almost done with Little Hearts. We have kind of had to take a break due to me working from home some. My youngest will be 5 in a month and a half. Would it be crazy to start back at the beginni...

Re: Great start to the school year!

Thank you! This does make complete sense. :)

Also, I am planning to stretch this guide out a bit into our first grade year. I don't want her to reach preparing too soon. We do school 4 days a week because we attend a co-op on Tuesdays. Which unit should we stop at to leave enough for next fall?

Great start to the school year!

Hi all! We are officially in the swing of things this year. We are almost done with Unit 4 of Little Hearts. My 5 1/2 year old has adjusted well to the history readings. The Bible verse activities and the rhymes are a hit here as well. Our only hurdle right now seems to be the Burgess books. We are ...

Re: LHTH or LHFHG

I am completely in agreement with Dawn. It depends on how mature of a 5 year old you have. (Hi Dawn! It's Stef!)
It is often times easier to appropriately place your child rather than beef up a guide. That's what I hear from the experts at least.

Re: Please give math advice!

First, I would suggest trying not to curriculum hop with math at all possible. Have you tried the IP or CWP books from Singapore? The intensive practice book would probably be perfect for this purpose. I know I plan on using at least that once we get there. I would definitely check out the website a...

That's great! We just started the younger options with LHTH with my 3 year old! There is absolutely no problem starting now. Why wait?!?

Science and Math in LHFHG

Hi all! I will be starting Little Hearts with my oldest in July. She will be 5 1/2 at the time. We used another program as a 4k this year. First question I bought some of my curriculum used and just realized that I have the 1St grade option for science. Do you think this will work okay for her? We w...
