Re: Bigger - Son having trouble with history...

I am new CM so thanks Julie for your response. I will continue at the pace we are going, and stop rephrasing. What you said, make complete sense to me, and I think I was just worrying over nothing really!

Re: Bigger - Son having trouble with history...

I have thought about that, but I am doing LHFHG with my kindergartner and I thought about doing the history lessons in it together 2 days and week and then doing the history and science in Bigger 2 days a week. So we going at half speed. I just think he struggles with how in depth it is. I don't kno...

Bigger - Son having trouble with history...

My son is 7, will be 8 in March. We are doing Bigger, but I am finding as we go along, that he is struggling with retaining facts, and the history reading. The science read alouds are also a little advanced for him, but if I paraphrase and teach it differently he seems to do better. I do all the rea...

Really Organized Ladies, Could you please take a look...

at my schedule for next year? I am trying to be more organized, as far as time. I have a lot on my plate right now, and I just want to make sure I am being a good steward of my time. I have 3 sons, Bigger and Little, and my youngest is 4 and we will be starting LHTH soon, but until then his school t...

Re: Mid year change

My first year homeschooling, I pieced together different curriculums froms all over the place and felt so disorganized and a failure at the end of the year. I had no idea what I was doing, and really in retrospect... I missed out on many oppurtunities educationally with my son. I feel like the first...

Re: Started LHFHG and I'm having some behavior problems.

Hmmm... Have you ever tried a behavior chart? Maybe offering a reward, in our house for every day they do school work cheerfully, and are good listeners and well mannered, they get a sticker and if they get 20 stickers in a month they get to pick a prize out of a box. (I take the happy meals toys an...

Re: Art Supplies Storage????

I have invested in smaller totes with lids for the things we do not use everyday. I group like items together so when we need something I can just pull out a tote, and easily clean it up after the project. My kids have school desks and we keep a backpack on the chair. We attend a weekly co-op and th...

Spelling Bigger

Okay, So... from my previous posts, I am new to HOD, and new to Charlotte Mason. I think the spelling in bigger is too easy for my 2nd grader. He is going through 2 weeks at a time. I have started the dictation, but I really don't know how to do it. I have read the appendix, but he gets it in one tr...

Re: Needing encouragement...

"This too shall pass" My kiddos are 7,6, and 4 and I so remember those days. I find that we still have issues with interrupting. I try very hard to make sure each child gets some mommy time throughout the day, but that is so easier said than done. My younger 2 also share a room, so while my oldest a...

Re: New to Singapore Math, need some advice...

Lourdes' Yes we are doing the hands on work, but there's not an activity everyday. I guess I just wanted to make sure he was 'normal' for his age. I don't have a problem with him using the manipulatives, but at the same time it didn't want him to be struggling through it, and me not be aware that th...

New to Singapore Math, need some advice...

Well this is our first year with HOD, and also with Singapore Math. Last year we did CLE math, and in the middle of the year, my son was so bored out of his mind, and to be honest I was too. It just was not a good fit for him, and I pretty much only got through the middle of the year in Math. I felt...

Re: After LHTH?

I wondered that last year when we were first looking into HOD. My youngest was 3 when we started this school year, and turned 4 in Sept. I considered ordering LHTH for him, but decided not too, because we had sent our older 2 to our church's preschool program, since I am on staff there as Children's...
