I take notes in mine. Not quite as marked as the op's since I'll be using the books with the younger ones, but definitely not pristine either.

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...

I have to admit that my oldest son is using another curriculum this year (returning to HOD next year for the high school sequence). We decided to deviate from the HOD cycle, as that way we could use the high school guides as written for all 4 of his high school years (had he stayed in his HOD cycle,...

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...

I asked my going-to-be-9th-grader what his thoughts were, and his initial reaction was, "Please don't change the guides!" :) My initial thought is about the same. We love, love, love the format now. I do like the idea of the previous posters, however, of maybe having a weekly overview added to each ...

Re: What is one thing you're enjoying that surprised you?

Reddy Fox. :D My youngest is using LHFHG. I honestly was not expecting her to be ready for the guide yet. She has SPD and some auditory processing issues, so I was thinking we'd be running the guides later with her because of all the listening involved. She is such a visual learner. Silly me. We tri...

Yes! :D I'm so excited about the high school guides that it's very hard to be patient.

Re: What guides are you doing?

My 5 year old is doing LHFHG 3-4 days a week. I think we'll keep this schedule through Bigger, which will hopefully put her into Preparing along about 4th grade. My 10 year old is working through Preparing (which, along with RTR, is our very favorite guide :) ). My just turned 14 year old is spendin...

Re: HS question: Incorporating the beef-ups

As we start high school in 3 months, I'm interested in the responses you get.

This year, I just wrote the word "extension" on the page below the independent history box to remind him to read them, but I'm thinking high school is going to have more to keep track of.

Re: any Ideas for Autistic Daughter & the Beyond LH?

My youngest daughter has an ASD, and the only way she learns is if there is a visual cue. Have you thought about pictures to go with the stories? Mine likes to color, so sometimes she'll color a pic of, say, the Garden of Eden while we read the story from the Bible. I was just debating this yesterda...

Re: MTMM question with high school level on packages

The Basic Package is simply the Read Alouds. The Economy Package has all the History books needed to complete the notebooking. So, you would still use those books and complete the notebook as scheduled. You would just drop the Read-Alouds (or the extra books if your child normally reads the Read Al...

Re: MTMM question with high school level on packages

Now I'm confused. :P In RTR, the assignments for the student notebook pages--at least for the written narration--come from the basic package (unless I'm misunderstanding what the basic package is). If we skip the basic package reading, he won't have read the pages necessary to complete the written n...
