Anyone Do 1/2 Speed Consistently?

I am going to start 1/2 speed with all of my dc (5,7,9) this year. Usually I do it for the first week or 2, then continue with both sides of the guide for the rest of the year. This year I feel since all my dc are at the youngest age for the guides (Little Hearts, Bigger, and CTC), everything is tou...

Re: Help! Combining When 1 Child Has Already Completed a Gui

Thank you for your reply Melissa. I have been considering doing 1/2 speed with Bigger, and I think that's just what I may do. Thank you for that suggestion. I always wish I could somehow combine, but I think that may make it harder in the long run. I wish I had started my 7 and 9 yo's together in th...

Help! Combining When 1 Child Has Already Completed a Guide?

I am really wanting to somehow combine my 7 and 9 yo for History at least, maybe science, since I will now have 4 I am homeschooling, plus 2 little ones. My 7 yo will start Bigger this year, but my 9 yo has already completed Bigger, 2 years ago. Would it be very wrong to have my 9 yo do the History ...

Re: Combining guides for kids or seperate

I'm running three guides now, it can be done. I also have 4 and 1 yo's. My oldest 2 are pretty independent by now (11 and 8) so they really only need me to get them started on certain subjects, check work, and sometimes I will read History/Science for my 8yo. I do all the lessons with my 6yo but it ...

Re: Question About Ending School Year Before Finishing LA

Oh my, I guess Im not thinking very clearly :). Obviously if they only go up to lesson 63 (seeing this after looking at the last CTC lesson), they expect you will continue next year.
Sorry for the mommy brain :(.

Re: Question About Ending School Year Before Finishing LA

oops, just realized we WILL be finished with R&S level 2, but definitely NOT level 4. Anyone want to let me know what they've done in that situation? We will end up on about lesson 60, and I believe there are over 110 lessons at least. I know with dictation, we just continued where we left off last ...

Re: Really behind-what can I do over summer?

We are behind where I'd like to be too, and I just plan to do the basics (math, LA, and maybe science and definitely have them continue with reading for fun) until the beginning of June, when we will take 2 mo. off.

Question About Ending School Year Before Finishing LA

We take summers off, and I've noticed that we will not be through the Rod and Staff LA programs in both Levels 2 and 4 for my 8 and 11 yo's. What do you all suggest we do then, continue where we left off next fall or start on the next level? Thanks!

Re: I don't think I can do two guides at once!

Not much time here, but you can do it! I am running 3 now, along with caring for a 4 yo and a 10 mo old. Its doable. My10 yr old can do alot on his own, as can my 8 yo. I spend the first hour with my 6 yo and then move on to help the other 2 with whatever they need help with. Dont stress. Its much e...

Re: How do you all Organize your HOD Materials

I have a big bookshelf with 5 shelves, one shelf for each child (3 in school right now), one shelf for me, one for loose paper, dry erase boards, and laminated math, LA and cursive helps. I also have a smaller, 3 shelf bookshelf for my preschoolers books, dictionaries, manipulatives, craft stuff and...

Is There A Teacher's Guide for Singapore Math?

My ds finished level 4A nad has moved on to 4B, and honestly, I dont understand some of the math :). I have to go online or ask dh to help us, lol. Ds struggles in math at times, and I feel like I dont help much when I have to look up how to do certain problems. Is there a teachers guide that I can ...

Re: 5 yr old attitude towards school

Just so you can feel a little more confident with starting in Aug: My son started Little Hearts last fall at 5 1/2. We were doing preschool stuff with him a couple days a week, and he would sit with us when I schooled the older 2. Some days he wanted to, others he didnt. I worried what would happen ...

Re: What would YOU do?

Ive been struggling with the thought of combining too these past 2 years. I am running 3 guides and some days its tough! BUT, my oldest is almost 11 and can do some of the work on his own (he struggles, so we alternate reading history and science together, so I do help him more than normally I would...

Combining for 6 & 8 Yo's

I am already thinking of next year for my 6 and 8 yr olds, lol. This yr they are doing Bigger and Little Hearts now, so each will move up to the next level next year. How can I combine without having the older one repeat what she learned in Beyond? I am doing 3 separate guides this year (i also have...
