no thinking skills in math-want to give up :)
So, I'm back with more woes from my 13 yo daughter and her math struggles. She is 3/4 of the way through 4B. For the most part, once she has struggled through a new math concept--learning a new formula or how to do longer multiplication, etc, she can get the "regular" equations done. She will still ...

RIce--I can't believe the wait times for getting in to doctors! I'm afraid that is what will happen here with Obamacare. I can get into almost any doctor within a week or two at the most, many times the same day or next day!

I just get another piece of paper to do the problems on, but wondering if we are supposed to do them mentally?

practice pages in Singapore
How do you all do these pages? The ones in the textbook that have 4 problems at the top with 4 problems in each one. They are all horizontal. Do you have them try and do all mentally? Write it out on another paper?

Re: R2R Written Narrations
Off of the top of my head, weren't the written narrations a lot of Bible stories in CTC? Do you think it was because the stories were more familiar? This history is pretty complex.

Thanks for sharing that. It's helps to know that you haven't had to much but there are the occasions. I didn't get it this time. I'm hoping that my engineer husband who is extremely math can help in those few times-or maybe more than a few.

Melissa, do you think you will have your children do 6A and B or stop after 5 and change then?

Wow, thanks LynnH for that description. That sounds incredible. Carrie is amazing. That is so fantastic that she put that all together-think of how much time and thought went into that. And that is just one part of the whole guide! I'm so grateful we have found this curriculum. I want to do the high...

Re: My Fine Motor Challenged 8 year older moving to Bigger
Tracing some could be okay, but I think the time and energy would be better spent by actually writing the words himself. One line of a few words written would go farther than tracing a whole verse. There is a big difference in the two. When you watch someone trace something and then watch them write...

Re: Really Need Advice!!
Choosing for them to remain in separate guides does not equate to saying that family relationships are not important. Some great ideas were given for having them doing things together or interacting together in different ways, at their own level. There are still many many hours in the day where they...

Re: New to HOD, need placement help
I would recommend Preparing with the Extensions and he could probably do pretty much everything independently instead of you doing the Teacher boxes. I'm not sure if you have done much with oral and written narrations before, and that is a big part of HOD. In RtR, it is assumed they have had 2 years...

Definitely the physical act of writing it. He doesn't want to have to copy long lines. He is getting faster with writing, and neater, but it's still an arduous process from him. He definitely doesn't have any trouble getting his thoughts.

Thanks ladies!!! It's encouraging to get on here. Good for you Julie! I have to walk away from the kitchen and the boys room many times saying, "it's not my job, it's not my job" lol I have so many things on my plate that only I can do, I don't need to be spending it on things that many others in th...
