Re: Count on Me page--how to use
okay--I was wondering how others used it--if I should just write the number or give her numbers to trace--it seems like the counting up to five is too simple but yet she's not ready for counting by 2s either--looking for good ideas--I'm not creative.

We started Preparing!
So, in another post I asked about starting Preparing with my son who is 11 but struggles with reading, spelling and the physical act of writing. We started 2 days ago and he is VERY excited and loved it. I think it really gave him a boost of confidence that he gets to "move up" and he said/questione...

Count on Me page--how to use
How do you use this page? I'm using it with my 3.5 yo who knows how to count to 10 very well and knows what it means to count the objects, etc. She doesn't know how to write the numbers though.

Re: 5 subject spiral notebook
I forgot that I also got her a bound sketchbook for her science experiments and notebooking. I started that with her in Bigger but dropped it in the next guides for papers and then putting them in page protectors. We are back to what is best for her. It's very simple.

Re: Hello, considering CTC
Please check the placement chart. You really want her to do a guide that is a good fit for her. You both will be happier. Do that and then everyone can help you figure out some things from there.

5 subject spiral notebook
I just wanted to share for anyone whose child also struggles with loose papers, 3-ring binders, keeping things in order, and losing things. This year for RTR I got her a 5 subject spiral notebook for the first time. We had been doing 3 ring binders and lots of composition notebooks. She came to me to...

reading specialists? question for you
My son ALWAYS switches then and when and that and what--always. What is that??
He also acts like he's going to die if he doesn't move after a few minutes and his "legs are killing him"!
Anyone else hear this?

Re: maybe we SHOULD do Preparing?
What's funny is that he does much better with cursive than print. Yesterday, doing his spelling words, he wrote some of them in cursive on the marker board instead of print. It is much neater that way. I definitely will do any activities in Preparing, but most of the ones in Bigger were way beneath ...

Re: maybe we SHOULD do Preparing?
Okay! It's so funny how we can get stuck in a thinking and not look outside the box. I think he will love it. Another thing I thought of as I looked at the guides again, I pretty much skip all of the activities with him (not the drawing and painting stuff) because they are pretty below him. He does ...

maybe we SHOULD do Preparing?
I just typed a message on here saying that my 11 yo is still in Bigger and not ready to move up. I went to the placement chart again just to make sure. And I say no still because of writing and spelling mainly. Then I looked at the first week. The content would definitely be a better fit for him--he...

Re: first day with RtR
That's great Rice! It is amazing how different children are and how it goes to show you that it doesn't work well to throw children in the same class just because of age. My son was 11, so a little over a year older than yours, and he is in the middle of Bigger! He is not ready to tackle Preparing e...

You can have them listen and read along to the Shakespeare. Librivox has all of the readings.

Re: Evaulation, Therapy and Prayer
I will pray for you. I understand that these are some scary things. I'm glad that you are looking into it. I know that it's been great for us and I have my 13 yo scheduled for some testing. I'm a little less scared now. I pray that God will give you and your husband wisdom and you will both be on th...

Re: Need Advice
Great things to think about LynnH. I know that I definitely couldn't do it if he couldn't just join right in with whatever I was already doing.
