Re: If I used a guide a year.....

For now, I am just going to enjoy 7th, 8th, and 9th grade and let prayer and time guide my decision from there on. So much can and will change by then that setting my mind in a "definite" right now for that far in the future is just setting myself up for failure. I have no doubt the Lord will hold ...

If I used a guide a year.....

my going into 3rd grader would miss one of the guides if we keep him in Beyond with his brother. I was made aware of this and I'm not sure if I am content with it. I wouldn't want my child to miss any of the guides, especially the ones for oder ages. Is there one that is o.k. to skip over before you...

Re: Better to do Beyond or Bigger half speed???

Hi my sweet friend. :) I'm not much help since we just started HOD a few weeks ago, but we are doing Beyond full speed but only 4 days a week. We love that schedule and it will work out better for Ev's age when he gets to Bigger. Ethan will just do extensions by then. So far they both are doing grea...

Re: Re-thinking Bigger for my 8.5 yr. old...

We are in week 2 in Beyond with our 7.5 year old and almost 9 year old boys. We too are new to HOD and the Charlotte Mason way so after buying Bigger and pouring through it all and studying it over a month I was not peaceful about putting my oldest in Beyond. My middle son fit squarely in Beyond but...

Finished the first week of Beyond

So today was the last day of the first week of going through Beyond with the boys. I don't know if Carrie has blessed me more or my sons more. We have all had smiles on our faces and the days have just gone so smoothly, even for the first week to my amazement. The kids, especially the oldest, have k...

Looking for a thread but can't find it

I was looking for the topic that had how long it took for each subject in Beyond. Julie and Carrie both shared their times in it. It was very helpful but I can't find it even after searching for 20 minutes. HELP?????

Narrating question with two doing one guide

Has anyone had a situation where when the kids narrate back to you on things that one seems to do it more often and then they just feed off of each other? Is that a good thing? I feel like it doesn't really let them think for themselves. Are there any boxes that you would not combine the kids on whe...

Re: Extension package for Beyond?

We are doing the same thing too. We have an almost 9 yr old and 7.5. The younger fits perfect in Beyond so we are just going to do beef it up for the 9 year old. After going a few months trying to figure out where to place them and different situations we are at such a peace with this decision now a...

7 and 9 year old together?

SO I thought I was going to have my almost 9 year old begin Bigger here this next week. A little background. We are just coming from MFW adventures. We finished it about a month ago now. And I was going to start Bigger and then put my 7.5 year old and almost 5 year old together in LHFHG. But the mor...

Re: Did everyone see Julie (my3sons)now has a blog?

I was reading the blog last night and just got so excited. I love her chore charts. We've been needing something different and the privilege idea was perfect too. We need a good revamp in chores so that is my goal come early summer. Thanks Julie. I'm such a visual learner.

Re: Singapore math - a few ??s about HOD's approach

WOW Julie! very well put. That is why we are switching over to SP for our children this next school year. Our kids would just burn out after staring at their math page. It was taking way to long and they were not enjoying it. They would love to know that math only takes 15 -20 minutes. I am all for ...
