Re: I couldn't wait any longer!

Congratulations psreit! :D I hope you both have a wonderful time with Bigger! I have some extra little items I needed coming soon and like you, I think we'll get a head start before the holidays.

Thank you again for your encouragement earlier this week. It was a true blessing. :D

Re: Don't know how to jump back in...needing advice :)

Carrie, Thank you for laying out those two options for his schooling. It really helps to see it all written out. :D :D I did order English 4 so I'll look it over when it arrives and see if he might be able to go ahead with it. If not, that's ok too - we'll get to it at some point. :D I do like havin...

Re: Don't know how to jump back in...needing advice :)

Whitney, It's good to "see" you! :D Thanks for taking time to share your journey with us. The ladies are such good listeners and are so patient at talking through options. I am thankful daily for this board and for the wonderful women who share so much of themselves! We all know that each family is...

Re: Don't know how to jump back in...needing advice :)

Thank you LynnH :) You've given me some good food for thought about perhaps using Preparing for him. I am encouraged by hearing your personal journey with you own DS. I do think my ds is similar in the maturity department - he just needs a bit of extra time. Charika30 - I was wondering about ...

Re: Don't know how to jump back in...needing advice :)

psreit - thank you SO much for sharing your story. Wow! I see so many similarities with our situation. HOD was never the problem. I have always LOVED the program and thanked the Lord daily for having it but we were experiencing problems with comprehension and attitude. If I look at the guides by age...

Re: Don't know how to jump bac in...needing advice :)

Thank you StephanieU. Looking at the placement chart I do see things like: *he has been using Pictures in Cursive by Casey Queen so he is use to copying sentences in cursive and doing 3/4 to 1 full page of copy work or free writing in print *he did well with the Bigger dictation passages before - we...

Don't know how to jump back in...needing advice :)

We took a BIG leave from HOD. BIG. Like over a year. But it was ok. I think it may in some way have served us but I'm still waiting on exactly how. LOL Anyway.... We left off with dd having almost finished Beyond and ds about half-way through Bigger. Bigger was giving us a major fit. He was having t...

Re: Questioning placement for DD7 - should I move her up?

Thank you all for responding. :D You have all offered food for thought on this and I really appreciate it. Like mom23 said, I am trying to look at the placement charts with "fresh" eyes as if just discovering HOD since we took a bit of a break. And as I stated before her 3 R skills continued to grow...

Questioning placement for DD7 - should I move her up?

Currently, my DD7 is in Beyond and on Unit 13. She came to me today asking why she couldn't do Bigger like DS9. I told her I would re-evaluate things later and get back to her. So that's what I'm doing. :D The story goes like this: she started Beyond last July. We sailed through til around Oct. when...

After Cheerful Cursive?

It's been a while since I've posted here. We've had a difficult year with some family loss and really getting out of our homeschooling groove. So we put HOD on hold and just kept up some basics. I'm so thankful and joyful to say that we are back to our HOD plans and the break has made a world of dif...

Re: Sarah Witcher's Story or Little House?? For almost 7 y/o

Highly recommend both! We did Little House when DS was in Beyond and now we are doing SW with DD in Beyond. Everyone listens and so far both are a hit. I don't think you can go wrong with either. :D

Re: A heck of a mess we're in....how do I straighten this ou

Well, there may be a slight change in plans.... I had a good talk with DS today about where we are at in school and that we need to get back to our normal routine. I asked how he felt about going back into Beyond. He said he did not want to do Beyond again and that he liked doing "his school" better...

Re: A heck of a mess we're in....how do I straighten this ou

Thank you Julie! :D Well, after reading and re-reading and re-reading and thinking about what you all have said I think we're going to go the combined route. I think both kids will do well in Beyond and I've found ways to beef it up a bit for DS and throw in an extra here or there to make it feel a ...
