Re: What to do? Finishing Beyond/doing LHFHG

It's not that he dislikes school; it's that he always can find something better to do than joining me at the school table. He does REALLY well, and DOES know all his K basics already. School is just a chore, then. He's not even challenged doing LHFHG half-speed, at least right now, while we're doing...

Re: What to do? Finishing Beyond/doing LHFHG

Thanks, ladies. That's helpful. I really need to add in DITHOR, so I'm sure once we do that, doing Beyond half-speed will be plenty. And I can tell DS is just plain not interested in school.

Re: What to do? Finishing Beyond/doing LHFHG

DS has not been interested in doing school, really. He mostly does it because something else fun is at the end of it. And I mostly do it because otherwise I feel like the slacker mom who doesn't even do school with her kids. I just remembered, too, that we are not yet doing DITHOR to daughter's scho...

What to do? Finishing Beyond/doing LHFHG

So...we have been doing HOD for three years and LOVE it. We have nine full weeks left of Beyond, and with a bunch of transition, I bet we'll finish by September/October. DD is still 7, and will turn 8 in July. DS just turned 5, and we are doing LHFHG half-speed with him. DD is very smart, but not su...

Re: Help! Books are in our household goods...

Thank you, everybody! We have no update so far. Hubby is home entertaining the kids. That's always nice too. :D

Help! Books are in our household goods...

Some of you may remember us, we were on the boards a couple of years ago. We are now in South Carolina, not Alaska, and just moved. Our HOD books are in our household goods, and we're not sure where they are. When you travel with the military, you get what you get. I had all of our stuff packed beca...

Reading in Beyond?

DD has a really high reading proficiency. Comprehension is iffy. She has to like the subject to retain what she reads. Today my husband was home while we were reading her history, and he said, "she can read, she should be the one reading history, rather than have you read to her." Well, we had to ha...

Finishing LHFHG in a couple of weeks!

Hi everyone! Just a quick check-in since I know we have been absent for a while to say I'm so EXCITED that we are within two weeks of finishing LHFHG with my DD6! We have been at this for at least a year and a half, while we learned homeschooling ropes and fought hard to learn patience while my daug...

Re: What guides are you doing?

My 6yo is doing LHFHG full-speed 4 days a week, so we can do not one, but TWO co-ops on Fridays. Also, my 3yo is doing LHTH, when I think about it! LOL! In LHFHG, we just started Unit 26 today, and we have a goal to finish LHFHG before we head to Hawaii to visit my sister (and coordinate trips with ...

Woo hoo! We ran LHTH and LHFHG today! :)

Ha ha! I know we're only running the younger guides, but the mere fact that we got two guides done today is worthy of note! :) The key was doing LHTH with Boy-O before breakfast, before Girlie came downstairs. Went beautifully, with only the "Count On Me" page to go. That's my playtime exercise for ...

Re: LHFHG and an independent reader

Thank you, everybody! I hear you, Julie, I just need to work it into our day, I guess. And it involves getting out the Beyond book, too. I have it, it's just a separate guide to pull out. :)
