Still thinking of switching to HOD...placement ??

I asked this a lot earlier this year as I contemplated from switching from MFW to HOD this fall, but in the end, I stayed with MFW. Looking ahead to next fall, yes I do that  (plus I thought maybe I could find used curriculum cheaper here in the "off" season). 5 yodd Doing MFW K right now. She...

Re: how do I know which level for DITHOR and other ???

Thanks! That helps so much! I'd lean toward either the Level 2 or Level 3 Book Pack then. :D If it is for the fall, I'd probably do Level 3. If it is for now, I'd do Level 2. :D Blessings, Carrie Thank you! We are planning on fall. Can I bother you Carrie for one more question? If my olde...

Re: how do I know which level for DITHOR and other ???

Melissa, I would lean toward either the Level 3 Book Pack or the Level 4/5 Girl Interest Pack. :D If you could share the titles of a few books your 8 turning 9 year old is reading now, then we could advise you even better between the two sets. The reading level for each book is noted in the descrip...

Re: how do I know which level for DITHOR and other ???

Julie ~ So, the first year, would I need to buy both level 2 and level 3 book packs? Or would I move on to level 3 book packs in "4th" grade?

how do I know which level for DITHOR and other ???

DD may be doing bigger hearts this fall, 3rd grade, 8-9 years during the school year. She is an excellent reader, loves to read, and can read chapter books. 2. Can you help me understand how the progression goes? How do I know when to move up to the next level of books. 3. Do we "need" the student b...

Re: Comparing HOD and MFW

That is the main reason that I decided to look for something else for our family. Overall, I think that the books that MFW schedules lack (this is a generalization and not true for every book but definately for most of them) the living books quality that I want for our homeschool. I was running mys...

Re: NEW QUESTION :) 3 kids all in different levels

Okay, so I'm thinking of doing little hearts for the youngest and beyond little for the next two. But thinking ahead then, I understand that youngest will probably repeat little hearts with 1st grade extension the 2nd year but how do you know when the olders are ready to move up? Would my middle dau...

Re: 3 kids all in different levels

Thank you. Yes, I looked at the placement guides. :) 8 yo can sit, listens well, works independently, great reader, responsible, can get frustrated easily and get a big mental block if she doesn't understand something, she's a perfectionist, prefers to do the illustrating rather than the writing. Do...

NEW QUESTION :) 3 kids all in different levels

ETA another question... I am not sure I yet understand how children progress. IF I do all three in a different program how do they progress through the levels? What would change each year for them? I have been using My Father's World the last 3 years and am looking into HOD. Thing is, it looks like...

Re: help me decide how to place my girls :)

Carrie ~ Thank you. Those were very helpful ideas.

My oldest is doing spelling and 2nd grade Grammar this year. She reads chapter books well.

My middle is fidgety and not as advanced reading-wise as her big sister. She is doing 1st grade this year but I'm not sure where we'll be by next June'ish?

Re: help me decide how to place my girls :)

Thank you ladies. I did order a catalog, I think it'll be better if I can see it in person rather than trying to look online  .

And I may have to end up giving her a call too
