Re: Classic or Girls Reader Sets?
I bought the girl set. I thought my DD would like them more, and I plan on purchasing the boy set for my son when he is old enough, that way it will change things up for ME a little as well. Then when my youngest gets to them, I can use the girl set again. That's a really good point! However, I'll ...

Never thought about starting half-speed. That is a good idea.

Start now or wait until Aug/Sep?
I've always been so traditional, starting after Labor Day (as the schools do around here) and finishing in spring with the summer off. Up here in Michigan we tend to have shorter summers, so I like to use them up outside! However, we are done with what we were using and I have about all my HOD stuff...

Classic or Girls Reader Sets?
I have 3 girls that will go through all the books. I'm torn between ordering the classic or the girl sets.

Re: How do you keep your guides in one piece? So
I unbind all my guides. I am not reselling any of them as I have more kiddos who will use them. I place my Guide in a large binder and put every page in a page protector. Each week I take out only the unit we are currently working on and place it in a smaller binder along with the dictation, extens...

Help me think straight
I know this is my personality mixed with my background, but I am having a really hard time choosing which guide to use and which speed to go at strictly based on where my children place and leaving out the "where I think they should be in x years" mindset. I keep thinking based on where I think we s...

Re: What grade level is Beyond considered?
I plan to use it this fall with my 2nd daughter who will turn 8 in November. I will consider her "2nd" grade. I think it is going to be perfect for her!

Re: Bigger or Preparing...
Preparing does introduce written narration in a gentle step by step process. It starts with questions that they can think about after they read and tells them they will use the answers in their narration. It then gives them the starting sentence and the initial narrations only have to be 5 sentence...

Bigger or Preparing...
My daughter will be 9 1/2 when we start whichever of the two we decide upon and 4th grade level. My concerns are she has never done narration and very minimal dictation. I'm wondering if Preparing has a gentle intro into that or if it just starts off with a bang? However, she is a great reader (and ...
