Re: Will you share your personal favorite Read a louds?

I think the book that we all enjoyed the most last year was The Great Turkey Walk.

Re: Week In Review 10-2-08

We finished unit 5 & started on unit 6 in Preparing this week. Luke was really glad to get back to the "Grandpa's Box" book. He said he missed it and doesn't want to take any more breaks! We're both enjoying Tirzah. You can see our week here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/wdworkman/ For the last ...

Re: How yummy can you get?!?

That's good to hear. - We'll be doing it next week. I might have to double the recipe so there's one left for Dad.

Preparing - hieroglyphics project in unit 5

We're doing our hieroglyphics in clay today. It says to use half of the clay that we made yesterday. Do we need to save the other half for another day or can we go ahead & do something with it?

Re: Week In Review 9-19-08

P.S. sometimes I have trouble controlling the silliness that can erupt. This occurred this week while trying to orchestrate the sock toss into a box for bible memory: any of you wise ladies have any tips? Thank you! I know it's not much help now, but those silly days do dwindle as they get older. N...

Re: Week In Review 9-19-08

We were working at half speed this week -- Luke had a bad head cold. In between cold medicine induced naps, we were able to finish our Cave Painting & get the first two days of Unit 4 done. Luke started reading The Mayflower Adventure for his DITHOR historical fiction. So far, he really seems to be ...

Re: Preparing Unit 3 question--art

We dipped our paper bag paper today. We crumpled the paper a lot before dipping so the tea stained the creases. It did make it look a little more cave like.

Re: Weekly review 09/04

We didn't get as much done this week with Labor Day & a busy Friday. We finished the week on Thursday with Unit 2, Day 3 in Preparing. Luke had a lot of fun mixing colors on the Rainbow picture. On Thursday, I was busy doing other things while he did his DITHOR reading. When I checked on him, he sai...

Our first week of the new school year

We finished our first week of Preparing. Since I know we'll only have 3 school days next week, I had planned to start Unit 2 on Friday. That didn't happen! Thursday is always going to be our busy day: Driver's Ed, Piano & Guitar lessons, Martial Arts. There may be some Thursdays when we get everythi...

Frustration over drawing

What I thought would be one of my son's favorite activities in Preparing is turning out to be his biggest source of frustration. He's almost in tears trying to get the drawings in the Draw Through History lessons just right. Of course, I keep telling him the drawings look fine or take a break & try ...

Our First day of Preparing

We just finished our first day of Preparing. We got started about 8:30. I had to take a 45 minute break at 9:00 for Grandpa's weekly trip to the grocery store, so I left Luke with his "Research" assignment & Draw Through History pages. Both were done by the time I got back! ' We were able to get eve...

Re: Preparing Questions

You might want to let your child look at the dictation levels. I was surprised a few days ago when my son was looking at the book with me & said that he wanted to try a harder level of dictation than I had planned.

We won't start Preparing until next week so I'm not speaking from experience. Could you possibly make Vocabulary 1 word a day every day?
