Re: Preparing Hearts Good Fit for my 10 Year Old?

Hi there! PHFHG has a target age range of 8-10 years old, with extensions for 11 and 12 yo. There are multiple levels of math, grammar, spelling, and reading available, so you can customize it to fit your son well. If your son is averaging writing 1-3 sentences in one setting, with guiding question...

Preparing Hearts Good Fit for my 10 Year Old?

Hello! I'm considering using HOD for my youngest 2 this school year. I've been doing LHFGH with my 6 year old and she loves it, so we'll just continue and move to the next level when the time comes. My other child I'm considering HOD for is 9 now, but will be turning 10 this summer, so will be in 5t...

Re: What are the Benefits of LHFHG's Rhymes in Motion?

Carrie and Rice! Thank you both for your helpful explanations. As a musician, I enjoy the exposure to melody, rhyme, rhythm and movement. I'm so thankful to have an open-and-go way to spend some special time each day with my youngest. I don't want her to get lost in the shuffle! Everyday she wants t...

What are the Benefits of LHFHG's Rhymes in Motion?

Hi! I have a very crunched school year schedule with my kids. My almost 6 year old LOVES Heart of Dakota, and I'm committed to taking the time to do it with her each day. I intuitively know that the Rhymes in Motion part is worth the time, but I'm wondering if you can explain the specific benefits o...

Re: Little Hands to Heaven Question

We like to give ourselves a hard time, now don't we? I too have struggled too much and too long with not "getting it all done" and feeling guilty that I'm not giving them enough because there are too many of them for me to be able to spend as much time with the younger ones as I did with my oldest ...

Re: Little Hands to Heaven Question

I will say that often the "count on me" or cutting and pasting go along with the Bible story and there's something to talk about with that. So it might work "better" to have read the Bible story before you do those, but it's probably fine to just say "later we are going to read about ____, so that'...

Re: Little Hands to Heaven Question

15-20 for you and a sibling to do one other box with them is definitely possible with LHTH. The fact that it's all laid out for you makes it go SO quickly. Also there are a few things your LO could sit at the table and work on concurrently with other kids who are doing seat-work if you like to run ...

Re: Little Hands to Heaven Question

Thanks for your response, StephanieU! I love the idea of doing the Bible reading and rhyme myself everyday, then asking an older sibling to do some or all of the other boxes. It's better to do some than nothing, for sure. And I know she'll love the rhymes! :)

Little Hands to Heaven Question

Hello! My current situation is that I'll be teaching a 9th grader, 7th grader, 4th grader, 1st grader, and 4 year old in the fall. I'm trying to find a preschool program that I can do with my 4 year old that I can streamline and do in a short time per day. (I'd love to spend longer with her, but I d...

Dictation is easy ...

Hi!
My 8 year old daughter just finished both spelling lists, and we've started Bigger's dictation this week. The dictation passages are really easy for her. Should I still do one a day, or do two a day, or would it be better to skip ahead to a higher level? I own all the guides up to CTC.

Thanks!

Re: Bedtime Stories

I feel the same way about wanting to call it a day, but I have to say, now that 4 of my kiddos are grown - those are precious memories of precious times sitting together reading in their room with them all laying around the bed listening to the story (my clown making jokes along the way, my inquisi...
