Re: To anyone who's used DITHOR Level 2/3 and 4/5...
i think that if he does not love to write and it is frustrating to him, then i would do the 2/3 level. It is very good and lots of thought provoking work... but at the same time lots less writing for youger boys especially. I am doing 2/3 and 4/5 currently, with a son that just turned 8 and one that...

Re: DITHOR-2nd Grade and 4th Grade Questions
I tried to find where I read this, but could not... I am pretty sure that somewhere I read that when they finish the emerging readers set that they go into DITHOR. Anyway I would definately say that if your chil is reading well in the ER set then she would do fine in DITHOR. I started it with my 2nd...

So you might type MFW into the search engine and see what others have said in the recent past... :D I do know that since we have started HOD I have not second guessed this cho...

Re: has anyone used 4 guides?
I am doing 3 guides and it is our first year with HOD, I have also homeschooled for a little while. I had a couple of thoughts. The first one is this: If the 14 yr old really is about 3rd or 4th grade level, then you could combine her into BIGGER with your 2nd grader, and just add the extensions whi...

Re: spiral or no spiral?
Hello I haven't had any problem with any of my guides, but I have considered cutting the binding off of our phonics book and then placing the cover and all pages into a 3 ring binder in page protectors... just a thought? It would be well protected...

Re: HOD curriculum
I just wanted to say that for the 13 yr old, if it were me... I would start with CTC, only because it really helps to set a foundation for him to be independant (as you said he was not very independant at this time). :D I would do it as is with the extensions for older kids, and personally i would t...

I just wanted to add that in the past when i have tried to double up, I have noticed that they are not always able to retain what they are learning. So it just seemed pointless?? I hope some others come in with ideas

Re: If I tweak RTR for high school how do you grade things?
Hello :D I am doing ctc with a 9th grader but beefing it up. First of all, i did not do the extensions but only because my son loves to read and he does lots of extra good reading on his own. I do think it might be a good idea to do the extensions though?? For grades this is what i do ( i cant wait ...

Re: OT: Advice/prayer/encouragement desperately needed!
I am glad to hear your son is doing ok :D I am not really sure what cymbalta is, but charcoal can help get it out of your system faster, not sure if that is the reason for withdrawal or not. You could probably google how to lesson the symptoms... with charcoal though, it is used for overdose and acci...

Re: Combining 2nd and 4th grader
I just wanted to add that i am doing a 2nd and 4th grader in BIGGER and it is just right for us. I originally wanted to do preparing and bigger, but decided to put them together and it is working perfectly... there are extensions for bigger for your 4th grader, but if you are having to change the ot...
