Praise for Preparing!

Just want to say that my 9-year old son is doing great with Preparing! He never complains (although sometimes too much read-aloud time drains him) :) He seems to like it and wants to stick with it for next year. This is his 3rd year with HOD. No complaints! Although sometimes, he doesn't give his be...

Preparing History Question

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I have visited the board. I hope you are all doing well. My son and I are having a wonderful time in Preparing this year. I do have a question though. "A Child's History of the World" is off on the page numbers in my Preparing book. I have noticed that the Cha...

Re: Ladies, I need prayer!

I can so relate to you...have struggles with mine at home too. My younger son who is 9 got in my desk last week and used my calculator for 2 problems he didn't understand. He confessed it to me and broke down in tears over it. I was happy about that but really hurt that he would hide it from me and ...

Preparing Questions

Hello! I haven't been on the boards in a while! But I am back. One of my sons (will be 9 in August) is going to be starting Preparing. He has done Beyond and Bigger, now on to Preparing! :D :D My older son (11) doesn't want to do it, so I will be piecing things together for him that are according to...

Re: Music portion of HOD

We do it when we do our Bible and History time together. I just say "okay, let's do our song." I have each of my sons stand up and sing the verse by themselves a couple of times. One of them really likes this, while the other one always gets tickled and ends up laughing! :D :D Funny enough, he is th...

Re: Beyond or Bigger for my 2nd grader?

I personally would say for the first year of homeschooling and with his being second grade, I would go with Beyond. We had a wonderful year at home last year with Beyond after being in school for 2 years. It was a gentle and relaxed approach and I wouldn't have wanted to miss that. So, that's my two...

Re: ADHD...help

Well my 10 year old in Bigger is pretty much like that! I give him a weekly sheet and just have him do it and check it off. He gets a reward when he is done with his work. It frees him up to do his work at pretty much any time of the day, as long as its done by Friday afternoon. If not, there are co...

Re: I came back

Welcome back! My sons 8 and 10 did Bigger this year. My 10 year old is doing the extensions with it, and it is working out great. I will say that my oldest doesn't really enjoy the science portion of the lessons for some reason. But other than that, they love it.

Blessings!

Re: sigh.....

Just a couple of thoughts: 1. Start her off at breakfast with PROTEIN. Cereal and other carby foods set the body up for my cravings throughout the day and cause lethargy and laziness. 2. Give her a weekly schedule and don't micro-manage her. How old is she? 11? Perfect age to begin to instill indepe...

Thank you Karla. That is awesome advice. I think I have been pushing her too hard and not offering rewards like I need to. I think that would definitely help.

Re: Need Advice, Wisdom, Thoughts

Thank you ladies. I started reading the history and storytime again. My oldest was very happy! My youngest was less than excited. But he ended up liking it, especially story time! So thank you for re-directing me back to that important aspect of our day. It is helping.

Re: Please give your input for our 2012 plans

Sounds like you are doing excellent! What program are you using to teach your son to read? Just curious. I have been using Phonics Pathways, but either my daughter isn't ready for it or I need to change approaches. She turned 5 in Sept. Thanks!

May the Lord comfort you tonight...so moving to read this. You are a special woman and all that you sowed into that precious child will not be in vain. Bless you so much for your service to our Father in caring for his little ones.

Need Advice, Wisdom, Thoughts

Okay, ladies, I would like your thoughts on something. My oldest son is doing Bigger this year along with his younger brother. Last year we did Beyond. Overall, it has been going well, but it's always a struggle for my oldest to do his work. Today he came to me and just said very sweetly, "Mom, I wo...
