DITHOR editions
Hi,
Is there a difference between the spiral-bound (copyright 2001) and the lay-flat bound DITHOR teacher manuals? Was there an update or just a change in binding?
Thanks,
Kathy

Re: Why are you homeschooling?
1. Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." We didn't know it was God's plan for us to homeschool until the spring before my older dd's Kindergarten year. She had attended Montes...

Re: Sneak Peek at New Guide: Missions to Modern Marvels
Hi Carrie,
I was wondering if you would mind going into some detail on the meaning behind the title. Specifically, I am interested in what "Missions" is going to entail.
Thanks!
Kathy

Re: LHFHG Newbie. Any timeline resources?
We used one of the large floorpads. I drew a line across the bottom with a yardstick and my daughter drew the timeline figures from the book (to the best of her ability), then I would add the caption beneath it. We ended up using several pages. I'm glad we did it! Oh, one thing I remember was one or...

Re: Help finding a thread about dc working independently
Hi Kristen, I'm not sure if this is the thread you are looking for, but awile back I asked a question about the philosophy behind having children working independently and there might some answers in there: http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8220&p=59864&hilit=independence#p5986...

Re: How do you organize?
I am keeping only the currently-in-use items on the bookshelf. Anything not being used currently is stored in a labeled Sterilite tub in my closet. When we finish a book, it's kind of like a mini-celebration to take it to the tub and get the next one. This keeps the books visible in our homeschool r...

Carrie, Thanks for the Ball Work in LHFHG
Carrie, I just wanted to say thank you for all the ball work in the scripture memorization portion of LHFHG. My dd started basketball camp this week (having never played basketball in her life), and I was thrilled to see her doing bounce passes and some of the other things we did in school this year...

Re: Introduction and Question about Science and LHFHG
I used both the K and 1st grade books for my Ker this year and using the 1st grade book hardly added any extra time at all. I think it is very doable to use both. The 1st grade pages are listed in the Appendix. There are no separate experiments/instructions for 1st grade. You just do what is in the ...

Re: History stories for Children - LHFHG
I was just about to post about an error I found in this schedule, but maybe it would be more helpful to put it here. We are on Week 31 and this part does not match: Unit 31: Day 1: p. 168-169 Day 2: p. 111-112 I believe it should read: Unit 32: Day 5: p. 168-169 Unit 33: Day 1: p. 111-112 Hopefully ...

Re: Is this a good idea?
Hi Jessie! Regarding planning, I don't actually plan (just do the next day in the guide), but I do keep a record of what we do on each day. I created a table in Word to print out each week ("__/___/11" filled in across the top row so I can enter the dates, and subjects down the left side). For each ...
