Re: Would my child be able to skip high school?

I have had to ponder this question also, as I have a very advanced, science focused 9yr ds. My dh and I have decided the question for us is... Should he skip high school, not would. We know he could and would if we let him, but should he? We feel he would not be ready to learn about and understand t...

Re: it's just not coming together -- help!

Dearest Sally, I have no words of wisdom and a smaller amount of children, but I can tell that you are an awesome Mom! Keep Loving, reading to, and feeding your children. You can make it through this season. I will be praying for you, asking Our Loving Father to give you peace, strength, comfort and...

Re: 2013 Conference Schedule

Ahhhhh! * Jumping up and down with joy!* HOD is coming to Western Washington. YES! *arm pumping* I didn't go to WA conference last year because HOD wasn't there and I didn't want to be tempted to buy curriculum I didn't need. I will be there to see and meet the HOD crew. I am so excited.

Re: Commit to pray for the Austin Family

We will be praying. Like others, the Austin family have been on my mind many times this month. My husband and I praise God for your hard work as it is a joy to use your work and lead my children to God. My non-believing family thank you as they see my children getting a quality education with "good ...

Praise the Lord! There is no greater joy then seeing our children follow the Lord. I weep in joy with you, your family and the angels. I look forward rejoicing with you and your child in heaven! :D

rejoice with the angels

Yesterday, at our supper time, my dd, 5 1/2 yrs old, decided to follow Jesus. We have been using LHFHG and it has changed our lives. I am overwhelmed that my Lord and Savior would allow me to teach and lead our children to Him. When I asked her to wait untill after dinner to pray, she said, " But mo...

Re: Week in Review 4/1 /11 to 4/8/11

Ahh! What an awesome week. We schooled for four days and the children made some great leaps in derstanding. I changed how we did "the boxes" by starting with bible study and then doing reading about history (continueing with learning the basics). This changed everyone's attitude towards God and peac...

success in LHFHG

We are slowly going thru LHFHG with my eldest two ds and dd. We accomplished Unit 13 Day 4 yesterday after much grumbling and delays. Then, I thought" Ok I'll push myself and make the bread suggested in the Science discovery" (I make bread twice a week by myself, never with the children). Ultimate S...

Re: New Kid on the Block!

Welcome to the board and to HOD. This is my first yr with HOD. I love the relaxed, sweet method HOD teachs us and our children. My tip... Relax and cuddle and pray. Relax- God has called you to teach and be a great parent, so you can do it. Don't try to do it all in one day, but ease into the curric...

Re: Weekly Review 1/17/11-1/21/11

Great news... I hs for 4 days this week. Praise God, as I am not consistent enough for my dh liking. The dc had a great time this week and tried hard to learn. This week we were in LHFHG Unit 11 Day2-5. We learned about Jesus' birth, the shepards, the wiseman and Jesus' family going to Passover. The...

Re: Box Day! (I think)

Oh how excited you must be! Have fun. With littles that are unsure of doing the"best", which I have two, I have found I must break up the words, actions and music into three parts. And model, model, model with mistakes and then model again, encouraging them to stand and watch nothing else is done. I...

Re: Week in Review 1/10/11 to 1/14/11

This week we only did two days from LHFHG and three days of schooling, yet I did feel sucessful as the children made lots of connections and learned from other sources (like the state musuem and the grocery store) LHFHG UNIT 10 day 5 - UNIT 11 day 1 Abbey (5yrs) did well reading once again and recei...
