Re: getting life in order to homeschool

This last school year: I set up a schedule using "Manager's of Thier Homes". The schedule is followed when we are at home and mom gets the say so for changes, I'd say it gives a good idea of what is going on, but it doesn't dictate our day. I have 5, 1 1/2, 3, 4, 6 (almost 7), 9 with a new little on...

Re: Help choosing for 2 children...

Now I haven't used HOD yet, but I'm thinking I'll e using it for this next year as I'm praying on it and my husand is liking the books and layout of the plans. :) But I did use text books from my children the first 2 1/2 years I homeschooled, and CM style this year, so I CAN say something about the ...

Re: Anouther question!

A appreciate the prayers! :) I'm working through the last weeks of morning sickness at 14 weeks. :) We are looking forward to a fun summer and meeting the new little one in the fall. :) As much as I was ready for the end of the school year, I'm really excited looking at HOD.

Thoughts on children and guides

With the older guides they teach more independant work. I'm wondering if as the oldest child gets up to the upper grades and they get more independant, then with adding 2 and 3 guides to meet 2 children in each guide we do, would it not add much time since the older ones would be more independant? D...

Re: Anouther question!

Wow! Thank you! :) I can't believe how well it would work to finish in the same year! I thought there would be no way I could finish with the days I wanted off, but the numbers show that we would only have to start a bit early and we could fit it all in! Very cool! I know the children wouldn't mind ...

Re: $435 for complete set??

Thank you for the prayers! :) I'm thinking my husband might increase budget on the thought that with the new baby it would be easier to have as many books as we can on hand, plus we have more children to use it! ;)

Re: $435 for complete set??

Julie, you are so awesome! Just so wonderfully helpful, what a blessing for those of us new here and looking around! Do you think it's possible to do LHFHG (K and 2nd) and Preparing (4) with a $300 budget? I'm sure if I went over a bit, it's ok, but I need to follow my husband and although he hasn't...

Re: $435 for complete set??

I'm thinking in typing, so let me know if I'm way off! LOL! The catalog says that if you are on a budget you could just do the Economy package with science add-ons. That is not very much. If you have a less expensive LA's or math that would work too (although R and S is very cost effective). I know ...

Re: Anouther question!

Thank you! Yes, I will start at the very beganing of Sept, unless the children really want to get started some in August for just a few days a week. ;) We normally Start begaining of Sept. Then baby number 6 is due mid Nov, but the last two were delivered 3 weeks early, so I'm thinking first week of...

Re: Encouraged by HOD philosophy!

"I've told many people that the Christian character of my kids is more important to me than how far they go academically."
That sums up exactly how I feel! What good is giving your child the world if they loose eternity?

Re: Anyone ever NOT finished the whole guide/curriculum?

I was reading this and I just wanted to say that Julie's reply is so inspiring, as I'm dealing with mornning sickness now (it's starting to get better), and looking for cirriculum for next fall when baby number 6 is due. It reminds me how important it is, plus God gives us the grace to do all He cal...

Drawn into the Heart of read level?

She reads American Girl books on her own, Little House books, Charlott'e's Web, Adventure's Children's Bible, Magic Tree house (in one sitting) ex... She LOVES to read on her own, misses a few words when I listen to her but understands th...
