Re: Check-in: What guides are you using?
:D DS10 is in Preparing. Slow and steady. He finds the guide interesting and it’s pushing him forward in learning. The drawing challenges him and I have modified that for him. We do fewer drawings than scheduled because they stretch him so hard. We work at it though. He is doing well in this fun gui...

Re: Revival to Revolution for Highschool
This recent thread is a place to start: http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=17890 I have a freshman starting with MtMM for 9th and my plan is to assign extension reading in lieu of the storytime for history. I won’t add anything else for history but will utilize all of the boxes ...

Re: Page numbers for Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus
Hi Julie (waving), It is possible I misplaced the sheet with the updated page numbers although I have homes for those sorts of things. I double checked my binder and looked in the guide to see if it was slipped in there. I do not have it and don’t recollect seeing it in my order. Shall I call the of...

Page numbers for Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus
The page numbers are off by about 5 in the assignment box for WRC. I purchased the guide and books from HOD for this school year. Is there a page number correction for this subject and book? Thanks!

Thanks for the IPC/Chemistry explanation. It is so helpful! After reading through the samples and your explanation I’m so comfortable using it for 10th grade.

Re: Placing DS16 - World History w/ writing difficulties
Purchasing the WG guide may be wise after all. I’d like to use the grammar/composition and Logic. I’m also considering the WG science plans as he is done with Biology. I don’t plan to do a Bible credit this year but I do plan to read/discuss Practical Happiness from WG and to use the one day a week ...

Re: Placing DS16 - World History w/ writing difficulties
Is it possible to use EIW 10 in lieu of 11 and just “do the next lesson”? He won’t do the Bible this year although I plan to use Bible in the US guides if this HOD plan works well. I’d rather not buy the WG guide. :D I’m thinking that if I know which lessons to use we could just do the next lesson u...

Re: Placing DS16 - World History w/ writing difficulties
Thank-you Rice and christianmom for your input and for helping me to think through ideas. :D I did use the Placement Chart and he fits well into the World History guide with the exception of WRITING. Honestly, I think he's somewhere between RTR and MtMM depending upon the skill in writing and narrat...

Placing DS16 - World History w/ writing difficulties
DS15 will be 16 this fall. He was in a private school as a freshman. He didn't do well in English or in courses with major writing requirements. He also experienced significant distress with multiple projects assigned simultaneously; having a major research paper assigned while also juggling essays ...

Re: Totally lost for placement....
P.S. You mentioned your uncertainty about the family learning. For us I find there is more family learning and team work somehow with them each having their own work in HOD then we had in the family combined learning of MFW. I don't know exactly how it works, but the flow is so much better. When th...

Christy, :D This has been a most encouraging and challenging thread. I am re-thinking a lot! Carrie, Do your boys work for HOD in the summer? I've felt that my sons would greatly benefit from a work opportunity in the summer. They want to earn money and frankly they need the structure. I don't feel ...

Re: OT: Silly prayer request
Oh my word Lora Beth!! That is so dear and definitely not silly. Those babies and lovies and blankies are special. I'm saying a prayer for your little Evie and asking if the Lord would please help you to find her Allison doll. Funny story (well, funny to us): My dear MIL gave my littlest guy this hi...

What a great conversation! I have so enjoyed seeing everyone's views on this. Thank you all sooo much for taking your precious time to reply! I agree with you all that it will look different for every family and that we should always take our schedules to the Lord and seek His will on them. One thi...
