UPDATE - Scheduling Help...Too much Free Time?
I worked on our schedule and was wondering if you think I have too much free time included. My kids are 6, 6 and 8. Our school day ends at about 2:30 by then, all the kids in the neighborhood will be home and they usually go out and play with them. Thanks! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/Tracy...

Scheduling Help
I'm gearing up for the new year and am very excited. I sat down to work out my schedule, but I'm struggling. This year, I will have a 3rd grader(finishing up Beyond and moving into Bigger) and two 1st graders in LHFHG. All three of my children have dyslexia, so I have to be very involved in everythi...

Re: Alternative to half speed-anyone else do this?
I think your plan sounds great. We are currently in Beyond, and won't be finished until the beginning of November. I'm giving myself until the end of December just in case other things come up. My son has dyslexia, so I plan to take a year and a half to do Bigger, so that ds will be closer to the sk...

We finished Singapore 1B
I am just jumping for joy. We finished Singapore 1B today, and I'm so pleased at the progress my ds has made. Through out 1A and 1B, I helped him as much as needed. I let him use manipulatives whenever he wanted, and today I was amazed at how all that just seemed to come together. The last 3 pages o...

Yep, just agreeing with what everyone else said. I can't remember exactly, but I probably modeled it for him and helped him through it.

Re: Wish this board was more active
Tiffanie, I completely understand. I think the board might be a little slower, because for some of us the school year is wrapping up, and the weather is getting nicer. Everyone is probably a little busier right now with the end of school year sports activities, dance and music recitals and testing. ...

Re: 10 year old struggling with math
She could very well have a disorder known as dyscalculia. It's like dyslexia, but with math. I would have her mom check into it. Also Trigger Memory has a DVD called Times Tales that helps with learning multiplication facts. It's amazing how it works.
I hope that helps,

We did/do exactly as Whitney has said. I could have written the response myself.

Re: Story Time for Beyond
My ds is loving the boy interest set for Beyond. He had a little trouble in the beginning with the Burgess books, but by the end of LHFHG, he was listening well. So far, we've read Squanto, Sword in the Tree, and we're almost finished with Sarah Witcher's Story. He's enjoyed them all, and after each...

Re: slow down or modify?
Thank you all so much. Your answers really helped solidify what I felt was best and eased my concerns about the future. Now, back to Beyond....yes, we are still only in Beyond, and I was already planning our steps for the next couple of years.
Thank you again!

slow down or modify?
Our school year currently goes from Jan - Dec. We got off track in ds' first grade year before we knew he had dyslexia and were trying to figure out what was going on. We've been on track since then, but we still aren't able to catch up to follow the public school calendar. My plan was to do LHFHG (...

Re: Special Needs/Need input
We've used LHFHG and are using Beyond for my ds who is 7 1/2 and severely dyslexic (auditory processing disorder) and has dysgraphia (visual-motor disorder). It has been a perfect fit for our family. We've had to modify some of the writing at the beginning of the guide, but ds is quickly progressing...

Re: Question about copywork
Thanks so much Julie! Wow, 3-4 lines a day by the end of Beyond is definitely doable for us. I'm excited. Even with some learning differences/challenges. DS is moving along nicely. I'm so excited!!!! Thank you HOD .
