Using Little Hands to Heaven as a Sunday School curruculum
Has anyone done this? Anyone have any advice for me on how to do this. Should I just run through the whole curriculum as is, doing Unit 1-Day 1 on one Sunday, Unit 1-Day 2 the next? Or should I do bits and pieces of each day of a unit and go through one letter per Sunday? We will have the kids for a...

I don't see why you couldn't do that. I say, if that's what works for you and your dd, then go for it.

Re: Do you supplement? If so, with what?
We use it pretty much as is. I use Hooked On Phonics for language arts instead of what is recomended. It works out well though, because it still fits within the time frame. We also add in more art, via homeschool co-op. Oh, and we are doing Draw, Write, Now instead of the handwriting because ds was ...

Re: Readers?
I was going to recomend Dick and Jane and Pathway readers also. That's what we're doing. You could also just take her to the library and see what there is there. We have a rule that if you struggle with 5 words in the first few pages, you need to find a book that is better suited for you.

We just went through that. Both dh and I were very confused. I agree with Julie that it is important though. We found that using an abacus helped.

Re: Magic Tree House Books???
My son loves the MTH books and has read a good majority of them (my 7 y/o, that is...my 11 year old was never interested in them). Here is how I feel about books (fictional ones at least): They are fiction. My kids have to know that not everything they hear, see, or read is real or the truth. I all...

Re: Little Hearts Handwriting Question
At that point we work up to the point right before frustration and call it quits. As long as my ds gave it his best that is. :D IMO there's no reason to force them to do it before they are ready. It will come eventually and pushing them will just make it a battle. Handwriting is not a battle I'm wil...

Re: How to schedule with co-op
I can't remember where I got this from. I believe it was another message board. This is not my plan. I don't claim it, so all thanks should go to the person who came up with it, unfortunately, I don't remember who it was. Beyond 4 day plan: History day5 to day 4 Science day 2 to day 1 art day 5 to d...

Re: 1st grade handwriting
I will try the rubber band.
I think the main issue is really that he's just bored with copying letters over and over. He does great with the sentence at the end. So maybe just one sentence for copywork to begin with?

Re: My best suggestion regarding Singapore...
Great advice. We are in 1A/1B this year and have done exactly as you said so far, but it's so tempting to want to stay on track and move ahead, even if he's not ready.

1st grade handwriting
We are using LHFHG with the 1st grade extentions. We have been working through GD Italic book B. He always complains how his hand hurts. I thought he just needed to strengthen those muscles so we've been playing with a lot of clay and play dough. A thought just came to me while we were working on sp...

I have nothing to add to this as I'm using Italic with my kids. It's a great question. I'll be watching for replies.

Re: ?about using two guides?
What I've noticed with myself is that I tend to overthink these things. I would recomend just continuing on with what you are doing now. Then, when next year comes try her out in Beyond and see what happens. You may or may not need to change a thing.

Re: 1st Grade Math LHFHG
I meant to post more before, but my baby swung her hand and it posted without me knowing. Yes, it's worth it to get the next guide up. The activity suggestions are great! Way better than just talking through the textbook.
