Re: Questions regarding typing vs writing in cursive

My son was like that in Preparing....and CtC. He strongly dislikes writing. He would rather type, print...do it orally - honestly, not do it at all  . But, I pushed him. In order for him to grow in to the next year and be able to complete the work, I discovered it is better to address the prob...

Re: Beyond question

We are at the end of Beyond, and he is writing it on 1st grade paper. I started out copying it for him on to the paper, skipping lines for him to write directly under the line he was copying. Then, I moved to copying it on one paper for him to copy on to his own paper. Finally, I began letting him c...

Re: Just wondering......

It has been a while since we completed those guides, but if I remember correctly, they are actually cds. And yes, they are used in their entirety. My son really enjoyed the variety!

Re: Week-in-Review Dec. 1-5

It has been a while since I stopped to check in, so I thought I would give an update! We are still so thankful for HOD and are enjoying our school year. This year, we are using Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory and parts of the World Geography Guide (my oldest attends school part-time while complet...

Re: notifying local school about my intent

Oh, mom3, I remember my first notification - I was so afraid I would do something wrong! To answer your question - no, you do not need to keep a log of hours in Ohio. I have homeschooled since K & my oldest is now entering 10th. You never have to give an account of hours, you do have to either do te...

Re: World Geography Guide

Thanks for chiming in, Julie. The Aviation Center is from the last week of August through the first week of June. He will be attending classes from 12:00-2:45 daily with homework. It is a university offering classes at our local airport as part of the public school system (dual credit). He is super ...

Re: World Geography Guide

Thanks for all the input, ladies. :D He is college bound, BUT wants to work in the airline industry. We, after much prayer and lots of deep breaths, decided that this option was the best for him. He will graduate hs four credit hours shy of his associates degree. The instructor that I met with recom...

Re: Lit time in World Geography guide-Julie or others

I hesitate to answer this because we are using the WG lit with the MTMM guide. Anyway, this is our experience: on assignments from the Fundamentals of Lit. he usually finishes the reading quickly - maybe 30-40 minutes. That includes the time it takes him to answer the questions. On days he reads a n...

World Geography Guide

I have read that the WG guide takes approximately 6.5-7 hours. So, I am having these panic attacks. My son (grade 10) is going to be attending an Aviation school that does not cover general requirements for 3.5 hours daily. We will continue homeschooling all his general requirements for high school....

Re: What do you do when you get behind in your daily schedul

I know that cramming things in does not work for us because it causes so much stress on everyone. Don't know how your kids respond to rushing, but for us, it does not work. So, after several years of struggling with this, I finally settled in to a loose time schedule. I leave extra time and after ab...

Re: Where do your older kids do school?

Each kiddo is different and every family has to find what works for them. So, for what it is worth, here is our experience: We discovered that all the distractions of day to day life were too much for our oldest, so we bought a small desk for his room. He also uses my bedroom and the kitchen (especi...
