Re: Algebra...

How much mom involvement is needed with Foerster's? Julie, how much does a mom need to be able to help her child through the text? In other words, do I need to be really well versed in math myself and understand algebra well in order for my child to use Foerster's? I haven't done algebra since colle...

Thanks Stephanie! I don't know why I couldn't find anything on the website, but thanks for letting me know what you found.

Re: Singapore Math and Common Core

The ones used in the HOD guides are the U.S. edition. On the Singapore website, it doesn't say one way or the other if the Primary Mathematics are CC aligned or not. I'm assuming they're not, since it doesn't say so on the cover like it does on Discovering Mathematics, but I wondered if anyone knew ...

Singapore Math and Common Core

Hello ladies, It's been a very long time since I've been on the boards, although we still use and love HOD. Life with our eight blessings just gets too crazy sometimes for me to get on the computer much. Getting on here again and reading all the posts though makes me miss it! I have a question about...

Re: Burnout on a deep level, with parenting

Oh yes, I've been there and am regularly there. There are seasons in my life when I have to pray for Christ's love to fill my heart toward a certain child (or two or three). He does and will give you that LOVE for your child, when you need it. Your children are His, after all. I second the suggestio...

Re: Done for a While!

I think it sounds great to be off for the summer. You can only do so much. You can easily finish Beyond when you pick back up in the fall. I will say that I have found LA to be an area that doesn't work well to be done independently...we used CLE before R&S, and it is workbook based and designed to ...

Re: How has the Lord showen you what cirriculum to use?

I had been struggling and searching for a year for a good curriculum fit, after a disappointing run with SL and not wanting to use it anymore. I had cobbled together quite a few different things and it was just awful. I wanted something that was still literature-based, but that had better books and ...

I have been thinking along these lines as well Carrie. I pray that the Lord will carry your burden for you as you are a tool in His hands.

Re: att Large families!

How does your day go with multiple guides with 6 or more children? I have 3 school age, 3 not yet school age and I so hope the Lord will bless us with more! It does make school a challenge at times though! LOL! How does HOD work for you, and have you used other cirriculums-why didn't they work so w...

Re: Finished Unit One of Bigger - Finally!!

What a beautiful allegory of how HOD works! I love it! You have such a talent with words, Julie. And I loved how you taught your little man to go out and take care of the worker at your house. That is true socialization  .

Opinions on The Story of US books

Hi Ladies, I am trying to plan my eldest's curriculum for the next couple of years, who unfortunately will miss all the HOD high school guides :( . The Story of US books by Joy Hakim turn up in tons of US History homeschool courses, and I was pondering on using them to supplement Rev to Rev, my dd w...

Re: writing in RevtoRev??

I would also add that you can subsitute any writing program that you would like in place of the Exciting World of Creative Writing without affecting the rest of Rev to Rev. HOD is flexible that way. :)

Re: Rod and Staff English question

This is so good to see Carrie's reasoning and thought process for scheduling R&S and LA! Since my oldest two won't get to use the HOD high school guides , I will probably continue with my plan to use R&S through level 10, scheduling it out to get through a level each year for them. But then go...

Re: I need to talk out loud for a minute....

I've learned a few things here and there (even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then  ) from having kindergarteners six times now. One thing I know, is that if child wants to be home with you and loves being with you, this is a treasure to take advantage of! Not all children are like this. A...
