Another good one to consider is When Children Love to Learn: A Practical Application of Charlotte Mason's Philosophy for Today. :)

Re: How do you facilitate poetry copywork?

When my son did copy work in Beyond last year, he would copy directly from the guide. I didn't photocopy aanything. I had him write on handwriting paper, I don't think he was ready for notebook paper yet.

Re: Loving The Hands-On Aspect

I completely agree! The hands-on is one of my favorite parts of HOD...they're fun for the kids and so easy for mom to implement! I also like that my kids have their own little acitivity everyday, it's something they don't have to share, lol. :)

Re: Using Bigger to Train them for Preparing...

This is very intereting because I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm using Bigger this year and plan on using Preparing next year. I'm loving Bigger! Anyway, I've been trying to assign my ds some 'independent' work everyday so he can get used to working independently. So far it's going we...

Re: Can someone explain the schedule for R & S English?

Hi there, R&S English is taught half-speed starting in CTC with R&S English 4 or 5. It's taught half-speed again in the folling guide, RTR. Then back to full speed in Rev to Rev. For writing, CTC uses Write With the Best and RTR uses the Medieval History Writing Lessons from IEW. I'm pretty sure Car...

That's funny because we thought the same thing! But you're right.... that book turned out so much better than we expected! :-) HOD's book choices have never failed to impress me. :-)

Re: Beyond & DITHOR - Do I need different book sets??

Yes, you would choose one of the book packs (classic, boy, or girl) for the Storytime box in Beyond and then you need another set of books to be used as the readers for DITHOR. For a child in Beyond, you would probably be looking at the Level 2 books or Level 3 books to go with DITHOR. HTH! :)

Re: Question about Book Projects to Send home book

It is not essential since you can use one of the other two options for your end project. But I have to say that I really like it and I'm glad I bought it! The projects are fun and super easy to do. If you can afford spending the extra money, I highly recommend it. :)
