Re: Hide 'Em in your Heart Verses

I have found them to match pretty closely to NIV. I think they had words to make it flow better in the song.

Re: 3-ring Binders for BHFHG

I use one binder per child and separate the subjects with tabs. Each child gets a 3 inch binder. It's way bigger than they really need but that's just what we are use to. :)

If you wanted to do separate ones then I think the 1.5" would be fine per subject.

Re: Record Keeping - Notebooks, Scrapbook, etc.

I forgot to add that this year for the first time, I am making the boys a yearbook. We take so many field trips and have so many play dates and park days with friends, that I wanted a way to keep those memories alive.

I'm currently working on our yearbook of this past school year using Shutterfly.

Re: Record Keeping - Notebooks, Scrapbook, etc.

We also use 3-ring binders for all 3 boys. They really enjoy having something that holds all their labors. :) I just get the big pack of 3 inch binders from Sam's club and we decorate a front cover and slip it into the sleeve. The boys keep their binders in their cubies (cubicles) and they are respo...

Re: HOD and Workbox Systems...

I don't know anything about the workbox systems, I've just seen pictures of them. But what works for us is cubicles that I picked up at Target. There are 9 "cubies" all together so each of my 3 boys has 3 of his own. One for their workbook and pencils, 2nd for makers, crayons, craft things and the l...

Re: Anyone Else Doing Year Round School?

I'm glad to hear from those of you that have been schooling year round. It's encouraging to know that it works! It just seems to make sense for us and to help keep our momentum. I am also planning on using those long break periods for make up days if need be but we definitely need a schedule or we l...

Anyone Else Doing Year Round School?

This will be our first year of doing year round school. I'm really excited about it and found a schedule that looks like it will work well for us. Basically you go for 45 days (counting M-F) then break for 15 days (counting again M-F). So you get a 3 week fall break and a 3 week spring break and the...

8 yr. old son is LOVING! Cheerful Cursive. He always does more than a page a day. He has wanted to learn cursive though since Kindergarten. :)

Re: Question about R&S English 2...writing the answers

We pretty much do it all orally. Occasionally, I'll have my son write some of his answers but like another poster wrote, no more than 5 sentences. I asked this question early on too and it really just depends on your child and how much writing you feel he/she should do. In the front of the Bigger ma...

Re: What MATH program do you use with HOD?

I wanted to add that the plans Carrie has put into the Little Hearts and Bigger Hearts manuals really help me to be more conscience of what the children are suppose to be learning and makes it hands on for all those tactile learners! :D

Re: What MATH program do you use with HOD?

We are using Singapore with Little Hearts for K boys (also twins!) and my 2nd grade boy who is doing parts of Bigger. They really enjoy it and the lessons are easy to teach but are concrete. I'm sure as we go up higher I will need the teacher's manual for Singapore to help me so that's an option for...

Re: OT-This happened very close to me, and has me worried.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=91397 As a new homeschooler, this makes me discouraged that I will not have the right to choose what's best for my own children. It is especially disheartening that the judge ordered a psychological evaluation for this woman just because of...
