Singapore 6A/6B or Principles of Mathematics Book 1?

My son is twelve and is going into the seventh grade. We are halfway through Res to Ref and almost finished with Singapore 5A/5B. I'm leaning towards going with Principles of Mathematics Book 1 in the fall when we complete 5A/5B. He is stronger in reading than in math, but his test scores have impro...

Re: Placement Help

I only have two kiddos, and they are both in separate guides. I don't have experience with managing a larger family, but I have been using HOD for a while now. Do not fear running two guides if your children need to be placed in two guides. I think most HOD moms will encourage you to trust the place...

Re: Concerned about future grades in Singapore Math

Singapore has been a good fit for us. I am not strong in math, yet I've had very few problems teaching with Singapore. I do have the teacher's guides for 5A and 5B, but I almost never use them.

Re: My daughter is worried ab being prepared for college

My husband is a college professor, and we both feel completely confident that learning with HOD will prepare both our kids for college. I hope that helps.

Re: CTC questions

Thanks so much, ladies, for your helpful responses. We used Wikipedia for Preparing last year as instructed in the guide. I feel much more confident now knowing we can continue to use that and maybe just add a Bible encyclopedia. Thanks again for your help.

CTC questions

Hello, ladies. I'm just starting CTC with my 11yo son. We're thrilled to be starting our new guide! But I have a question already. Carrie recommends in the introduction having one or more comprehensive history encyclopedias in print form, on CD, or on the internet for use in Reading About History Da...

Re: CTC Storytime box..Girl Interest or History Interest..

I just ordered the history interest pack for my 10yo son who will be starting CTC in just a couple of weeks. He loves History and is in the upper age range of the guide, so I felt confident it was the right choice or him. My daughter will get into this guide at a younger age, so I'm thinking about t...

CTC: Basic Package Option 1, Extension Package, both? Help!

Hello, ladies. I will soon be ordering CTC, but I need help deciding whether to order Basic Package Option 1 History Interest, Extension Package, or both. My son will be 11 in April. If he were in school, he would be starting sixth grade in the fall. We have used HOD since he was five, and we love i...

skip spelling list 2 and move on to dictation?

Hello, ladies. My 7yo daughter is doing Beyond, and for the most part it is a perfect fit for her. My only question is about spelling. Spelling list 1 was too easy for her, so I moved her up to list 2. She's having no problem with that either and complains about doing it because it's boring. Think I...

Thank you so much, ladies, for your encouraging and helpful responses! I will heed your advice and enjoy the ride! We are happy, happy, happy in our learning--what a blessing! Thanks also to those of you who offered suggestions. I see now that if I really see the need to fast forward a bit, it will ...

got a little behind--can we do all the high school guides?

My son, who will be ten in April, is only on week 5 of Preparing. We started with Little Hearts when he was five, but we got a little bogged down in Bigger and Beyond--first due to an illness and death in the family then due to a lot of resistance on my son's part. It took us a long time to get up t...

Re: 4 y/o beginig writing what do I do?

My now 7yo daughter was an early writer, too. At 4, I didn't really give her any instruction--just plenty of workbooks with plenty of tracing and writing. (She loved the Rod and Staff workbooks and did them all.) I didn't nitpick about form. Her handwriting was and is beautiful. She did A Reason For...

Re: Singapore 3A/3B schedule in Preparing guide

My son is 9 and doing Preparing with Singapore 3B. He does the Preparing plans four days a week and does math five days a week. When we get to 4A, we will probably still continue to do math five days a week. Hope that helps!

I've done LHFHG twice, and I think it's just right for Kindergarten without adding anything. :)
